When the whole guest post craze first started in the world of blogging I was hardly quick to jump on the bandwagon, setting the entire guest posting process up just seemed like a giant time consuming project. Once I got started on setting up my Guest Posting Information page everything went together pretty quick, I even ended up getting a killer guest post from Mike the blogger behind Daily Shot of Coffee. Quickly following Mike’s post Karen from Blazing Minds submitted a guest post about blogging that generated an interesting discussion, it didn’t take long for me to realize that there are some excellent benefits for guest bloggers as well blog owners.
Now it’s time for me to shut up and get down to the 10 reasons you should guest post here on Extreme John.
10 Reasons You Should Guest Post Here
1. Blog Freely
This blog is a pretty wide open “niche free” blog, you can write about your choice of 9 guest post topics including; rants, product reviews, business reviews, business blogging tips, business tips, blogging tips, social media, social networking, Facebook and Twitter. If your a niche blogger this is your perfect chance to clear your mind and blog about something other than what your blog about daily, take on a new challenge, if your not a blogger guest posting is a great way to get something off your chest.
2. Build Readers
As a way to show my appreciation for those of you that take advantage of the chance to guest post here on my blog you receive a link at the beginning of the post as well as in the post author box, my readers click click your links = you exposing your content to new readers. If they like you they might just subscribe to your rss feed or mailing list or whatever other method you make available.
3. Do Follow Backlinks
Anyone that reads my blog from time to time knows that I am a huge advocate for DoFollow blogs, use my search box to search Do Follow and you will find all kinds of useful do follow information and free do follow badges. Anyway, bottom line this blog is a DO FOLLOW blog.
4. Google Page Rank
At one point in time this dump had a Google Page Rank 4, after the most recent Google Page Rank update it currently sits at a PR3. I do have good reason to believe it will be a Google PR4 or PR5 after the next update, regardless backlinks increase search engine rankings. By writing a guest post you will receive do follow backlinks which can aid in increasing your Google Page Rank.
5. Exploit Keywords
As long as your not writing a spammy post looking to sell some crappy internet get rich quick scheme you can write about topics within your niche as long as they are within the guest posting guidelines, writing about topics within your niche gives you a chance to exploit your keywords and key phrases.
6. Gain Respect
This blog has a fair amount of readers on a daily basis, readers that come here for all kinds of different reasons. The reputation of this blog has always been straight forward no BS, people respect that here… having your guest post seen anywhere helps you gain respect within the community, having it seen here will be like shoving dynamite up your tailpipe. I know what you thought I was going to say, filthy mind.
7. Teach
Teaching others helps you sharpen your existing skills only making you better at something your already good at, not to mention how cool people will think you are if you teach them something.
8. Free Traffic
Since your the one writing the article you can link to anything non-spam or bs related, if you don’t have a website or blog you can link back to your Facebook page and get some new friends out of the deal. If you have a blog or a website the free traffic benefits are there, this blog see’s over 35,000 unique visitors per month and serves up over 100k page views on a slow month.
9. Increase Your Network
You get to fill out your own little bio section that will be displayed in the bottom of your guest post, plug away. Throw a link to your Twitter account or Facebook Fan Page in to the mix, who knows you might pick up an extra fan or a new Twitter follower somewhere along the way.
10. It Gives Everyone a Break
Seriously those of you that subscribe to my rss feed know that it can be exhausting listening to me ramble on and on about things, give the Extreme John blog readers a break and write a guest post.

Not even sure why I am so hesitant about doing a guest post. It’s somehow outside my comfort zone, thinking maybe it won’t be good enough or whatever. I’ll give it some thought though.
By the way, what do you do when someone offers to write a blog post that’s clearly bad or nothing but self-promoting? How do you turn them down politely?

It’s not a bad idea for you as it gets you noticed, but as for seo it doesn’t do much for the second blog owners rankings, still that’s his choice.
I can say that my site totally benefitted from guest posting here, this is a high traffic site with a huge following and respect.
