Here are a few reasons I think you might suck at Twitter, I figured since the chances are that you have no idea exactly why no one follows you on Twitter or why you feel like your tweeting to yourself on Twitter I would tell you. You know, just trying to help new Twitter users to understand some of the things you can do so that you get whatever results you might be looking for from Twitter.
- You visit Twitter.com once a week
- You only tweet your agenda
- You never interact with others
- Your blog posts are the only thing that show in your feed
- You don’t even consider following people that follow you
- 98% of your tweets are “Get 400 Twitter followers a day!”
- The lingo you use requires 15 blows to the head from a baseball bat to understand
- Your updates come in bulk packs like Sams Club
- Your updates are all scheduled in Tweet Later
- You expect everyone to follow you because of the boob avatar you have
I can probably write another 100 things that might help someone figure out why they suck at Twitter, don’t get me wrong I understand that Twitter is a challenge and I understand that it takes patience to get people to follow you on Twitter. I think what is more important for people to realize when it comes to using Twitter is that you will get out of Twitter exactly what you put into Twitter, sometimes.
Not everyone is going to make money with Twitter, not everyone is going to have 10,000 twitter followers fast and not everyone that tries Twitter is going to like it. Twitter is not for everyone, you need to figure out what your going to do with Twitter and set a few goals in regards to your Twitter account and how you want to run it, especially if you don’t want to be one of the people asking why their Twitter sucks.

I really hated Twitter when I first started it: all those self-absorbed tweets, pointless quotes, just a waste of space – some people who are REALLY bad at Twitter. But wouldn’t you know it- now that I like it and have some people to talk to, my company slammed down the WebSense on it yesterday! So I will be Twitterless from 7 am to 6 pm each weekday from now on.

I really wish there was an option for new followers to send a msg—like on FB. A place where they can say why they hell they chose to follow you in the first place. Because sometimes you look at the profiles and there is no webpage or they are kinda vague (in profile & in tweets) and you can’t tell if it’s worth following back.

I think you made some very valid points. One thing I really need to work on is dispersing my tweets out during the day. Often I will get on and @reply everyone at the same time and I know it jams up my feed. Good suggestion

I guess I don’t suck as much as I used to. There’s progress. The Twitter community will embrace or reject you by your practices. I’ve learned more by making mistakes and getting gentle nudges from others.
BTW, I love the “get 400 followers a day” tweets from users with 222 followers and a 3 month old account.
I’ve been guilty of bulk RT’s – time constraints. I try to limit this as it is annoying to others. I had a user complain about my Twitter Flood as he called it, I’ve got news – unfollow.

I have nothing against Twitter as long as it is used to build up relationships.. networking…discussions… sharing…well I mean real tweets. — I dont even mind sharing of blog posts (unless as you mentioned the person only has a feed list as his tweet lol.
But I hate when I see people coming on Twitter as soon as they wake up and say “Morrrrrrrning Tweeps”…..then followed abt how bad their fart is and then talk abt a tea cup they made which lack sugar to finally hear nothing from them and then at night says ” Nite nite nite tweeps”!

Really burns me up when people don’t ever check their @Repies. Once you’ve following more than a few dozen tweeters, there’s no way you can catch everything that’s said to you just buy glancing at the timeline of current tweets.
Likewise, it really gripes me when you specifically tweets to others and they never respond. Maybe they didn’t read your tweet, maybe they just ignored it – who knows?
