iPad apps are a lot like cell phone apps and apps for other Apple devices like the iPod touch and iPhone, addicting. I recently picked up a few iPads to use in testing around the office for up coming iPad apps for my indoor tanning salon business, Extreme Tan and Smoothies. I quickly realized after my MacBook Pro hard drive failed that I would have to take a crash course in getting familiar with the iPad, especially if I planned on using it to update my blog or any of our business blogs.

After countless hours spent inside the iPad app store I came away with 13 iPad apps for blogging, or at least iPad apps that made blogging from the iPad a little less stressful then it might have been had I not found the apps. I can only imagine that there are a few other small business owners that work on their own business blogs and personal bloggers that would like to update their blog using their iPad, hopefully this post helps some of those bloggers get blogging with their iPad.

Best iPad Apps for Mobile Blogging

1. abc News

I like to include little tid bits of the news or current events into my daily blog posts. The ABC iPad app is not only a great source for finding that quick topic to talk about, but it’s also the hottest news app for the iPad. ABC iPad app

Analytics HD iPad App

2. Analytics HD

Access Google Analytics instantly from your iPad with the Analytics HD application.

3. Dragon Dictation

Why try to type it on the iPad when you can quickly dictate a post, copy and paste it into the WordPress iPad app and send it off to your blog. Dragon Dictation iPad app

4. Dropbox

If you read my blog on a regular basis chances are you know exactly what Dropbox is from be writing about it from time to time. Dropbox makes it easy for me to have all of my files in one place, I shouldn’t be limited to needing a PC or my MacBook Pro when I need a file. Now on the go, Dropbox makes it easy for me to access my files from my iPad in a few easy taps. Dropbox for iPad

Evernote iPad app

5. Evernote

I only recently started using Evernote when I first got the iPad. Evernote mkes it easy to collect information to reference at a later date or share with friends. A great tool for staying organized or putting information aside to use later. Evernote for iPad is here.

6. Facebook

The best app for getting things posted to your Facebook fan page or to your Facebook status updates and of course it’s a great wya to keep your network flowing when your on the go. Facebook iPad app

7. HootSuite

All though this app is limited in my opinion, which is based on the fact that I know how awesome the HootSuitet Twitter client is vs what the HootSuite iPad application offers. Regardless, improvement needed or not HootSuite still helps me get the job done across all of my social networks for my Extreme Tan and Smoothies or updates on my personal accounts. 8. NetNewsWire

Not everything can be learned from within the 4 walls of your blog. Getting out, reading and commenting on other blogs blog updates is a great way to increase comments to your own blog as well as your social network. NetNewsWire for iPad makes keeping up with your favorite rss feed subscriptions simple butta. NetNewsWire iPad app

9. PhotoPad

It’s important to keep in mind that I am a major rookie and terrible with everything photo related, which is why I am very fortunate to work with a guy like Dawn who keeps the graphics, pictures and images around my blog in check. This app is probably a lot more useful to those bloggers that use the iPad and actually have some type of ability to work with photos, personally for me it’s just something fun to play with and maybe alter a photo I have for something like this.

PhotoPad if nothing else is a cool app to play with and if your creative enough with the fingers I’m sure this can come in handy.

PhotoGene iPad App

10. Photogene

I quickly explained how useless I really am when it comes to photos, etc above so I won’t continue on that path. What I will say is that PhotoGene is a lot like PhotoPad with a few different features between the two of them, crafty iPad users like unlike me should have some fun with the PhotoGene iPad app.

11. SplitBrowser

I hate flipping between tabs on my MacBook Pro and trying to navigate multiple browser windows on the iPad isn’t much more fun, actually I hate it. In any case SplitBrowser app for iPad allows you to open two browser windows within one browser, this helps me tremendously when I do my NFL predictions posts. SplitBrowser iPad app

12.Twitter

When I’m not using HootSuite I turn to the actual Twitter iPad app, it has a simple, fast and elegant design that makes it easy on the eyes. Official Twitter iPad app.

13. WordPress

The WordPress iPad application makes blogging from your iPad pretty simple, you do have to set it up to connect with your blog and it has a few hiccups here and there but outside of that it gets the job done. Worst case scenario I use the WordPress iPad app in conjunction with the Safari browser logged into my blog to get the job done. WordPress iPad app

Now here’s where this gets exciting. Take a moment to leave a comment with any iPad app that you feel is great for blogging on the go, or better yet an iPad app for blogging on the go.

P.s. Don’t forget to retweet this on Twitter if you found it helpful.

Hi John,

I’m confused with the Wordpress app. I have it in my iPad and it doesn’t work on self-hosted wordpress blogs, is this the one that you have or it’s a different app?

Thanks
JP

No that’s the app, it works on self hosted WP blogs, this blog is a self hoasted Wordpress blog.

I am a big fan of Hootsuite since I have multiple Twitter accounts and Twitter itself is so slow compared to using a service that accesses the API.

HootSuite is killer for anyone with multiple Twitter accounts that actually plan on maintaining them.

I don’t have an iPad, but I played a racing game on one once LOL

I have really been using Hootsuite a lot more since your review on MMS VS HS, it has many more features than when I used it last, and by far, the best FP pages management system I have used yet. I went to upgrade to pro, but I guess I have had it so long I was grandfathered in because I can’t do it, so that is another plus…

Yeah Keith it’s going to be a while before someone has a complete system that handles the Fan Pages, LinkedIn posting as well, it’s just bad ass.

Oh man, haven’t been around in awhile. I’ve been traveling the country working from my computer. I agree with Dropbox, Wordpress and Evernote. The past couple months I’ve been working on an iPhone app so I better see it as a top app one day on your blog! Launches in two week!

I’m curious to see what the iPad app your developing is. I might be in the market for an iPad app builder real soon.

I think it’s a great idea for any business. I have a couple in mind for other businesses. Haven’t really thought of one for a tanning salon. There is a feature I want developed for the one coming out in a couple weeks that could go with your limo business though. Biggest advice for creating an app is finding the right team. There are a lot of crap developers out there.

I have used hootsuite as well and it works like a charm, I just had my assistant managed it for me.
