My first computer came with great thanks to a friend of mine named Anthony, I have known him pretty much my entire life and when I had no cash and was living on much less than paycheck to paycheck money Anthony was nice enough to work out a deal with me that would get me my first computer.

Little did I realize or did Anthony realize that I would turn around and use computers to change my life forever, there isn’t enough thanks in the world to go with that so I love ya Ant thank you. The computer I ended up getting also came thanks to the advice of Anthony who led me in the right direction. I ended up getting a system with Windows on it, I don’t even know which version of Windows it was running but I remember it was Windows and I remember using AOL as my main Internet Provider…. Imagine that.

I have pretty much stuck with Windows based computers from that point on, that is until earlier this week when I picked up a Macbook Pro thanks to the advice of Steve from A Sound Decision. At first I was very skeptical about learning a new operating system, not to mention pretty much every program I use was already loaded and working perfectly fine on my Sony Vaio Lappie. I have always been interested in getting an Apple computer simply for the sake of learning it, but not for the sake of replacing my everyday Lappie.

I have been using it for a few days now and feel that I can write a decent review on the MacBook Pro I purchased and my change over to Apple XO operating System. So far I love the look of the Mac, it’s sleek, very clean and has a very inviting look to it that makes you want to use it. As for the software packages I am sue to it looks like I am going to have to learn a few new pieces of software vs what I use to use on a daily basis on my Lappie. The toughest change for me thus far is the change from Paint Shop Pro X to Adobe Photo shop Elements, it’s been a tough one but I am getting the hang of it, I will say as of right now I like the ease of use much more on the graphics software I used on my Windows system. Even trying to resize an image with Adobe Photoshop Elements is a royal pain in the ass instead of the quick 5 second process it was with Paint Shop Pro X. Another huge issue I am having is that my JVC HDD Cam creates a file type that I can’t seem to edit in Final Cut Express which (if I dont find a resolution) will only become a larger problem and one that would require me to either purchase another video camera or keep a windows based Lappie on hand.

Other than the issues I mentioned above there isn’t much else I have an issue with, as a matter of fact I don’t think there are any I can think of off hand. I love the Wireless N it comes with, I also love the program bar and how easy it is to get to everything. I am also very excited about the fact that I can run Firefox on here along with all of the plugins I usually use. Even though I have really just started to use the Macbook pro I feel very comfortable about the switch over to Apple, and worst case scenario I installed Fusion which allows me to run a Windows XP Pro operating system right on my MacBook Pro which will come in handy if I can’t get use to some of the programs.
