It’s already Friday and this is a post I planned on getting out on Monday of last week, yeah it’s safe to say I am running behind or I am just suffering from a lack of motivation to write blogging tips. I have a pretty crazy day ahead of me, so this will be a quick post to give you a few tips that might help you increase your Alexa ranking.
The Alexa Toolbar is a free toolbar that will not only allow you to track your own blog or websites ranking, it will also allow you to see where other blogs rank on Alexa.com. Another benefit to having the Alexa Toolbar installed on your browser is that it also offers some form of credit in increasing your own Alexa ranking, because each time you visit your own site with the toolbar installed.. it helps your ranking.
I really can’t take credit for this I have to give this credit up to Cristina Bledsoe from The Star Celeb for getting me involved in this to some degree. Basically one of your blog readers that is a blogger takes a moment to write a review in regards to the reasons they like your blog, in the event you read their blog as well you can return the favor.
This is pretty simple and I can see where it would be effective, the key here is keeping the chain honest. Don’t write reviews for blogs that you really don’t read, and don’t expect people that don’t read your blog to write reviews for you. Keep it real, and if you feel like it you can review Extreme John here.
3. Reach Out to Your Readers
If you put a tremendous amount of work into your blog and you have built a nice community amongst the folks that read your blog take a moment to reach out to them right on your blog, ask your readers to rate and review your blog on Alexa.
Don’t get frustrated if this doesn’t come together for you right away, not everyone is motivated to write a review for someone else and it might take a little time before you really start to see the results you want.
Who knows maybe after writing this I little post with some Alexa ranking tips I might get a review or two out of it (hint hint). Either way if you found this useful take a moment and leave a comment, you might want to subscribe to my rss feed or follow me on Twitter.
P.s. I broke into the Top 50,000 in the world this week as well as the Top 17,000 in the United States, not what I would expect from a blog about nothing. THANK YOU!

These are good tips to improve Alexa rankings. I have really never bothered about it that much, but I guess it is still an important metrics and breaking the 50K worldwide is quite an achievement. Watch out Google, here I come..hehehe Congrats bro and keep it up. When I get to that spot, you will be way under the 20K’s.

I have to be honest: I’d forgotten all about Alexa. I remember it when it first came on the scene, but didn’t pay much attention. Friends recently started talking about their Alexa rankings, and I got curious. My blog was somewhere in the millions, but my Google PR was a 3. I thought that was a bit odd.
Frankly, I’m not sure what happened, but my competitive streak’s getting a bit of a kick out of it.
What I really don’t get, though, is that it’s claiming my blog ranks really well in South Korea. I’m just not seeing those visitors on my stats. So what the heck?

I’ve actually did a post about this ages ago, the only problem is that it only works well if everyone has the toolbar installed.
I’ve just recently installed the Alexa widget on some of my blogs and I’m just wondering if this isn’t a better way to increase your ratings as it records every visit to your blog, allowing Alexa to track it more accurately. Wassup has just recent broken the 100,000 mark.

Some of my friends are also using this toolbar and it really helped in increasing their rank, but i guess its much important to learn to create nice articles/blog for the readers to read rather than incereasing the rank, this applies to newbies like me… but these are nice tips from a pro… i’ll add this as another learning tool… thumbs up!

I am always supporting the idea of using ‘Alexa’ while surfing, however since I am natively supporting Mozilla-based browsers (Netscape then Firefox), I am using the “add-on” tool for FF which appears on the toolbar page while loading in FF. Great tips of course, John!

I can see how a reader with Alexa toolbar in his browser help you rank well, but what’s the benefit in Alexa review of your blog? Does it have more weight than the hits you get from readers who have Alexa toolbar installed?
Am I missing something? Has Alexa site, specifically its review page, driving significant amount of traffic to your blog?
Other than knowing about the helpfulness of visitors with the toolbar installed, I admit to not knowing much about this. And it’s a source of amusement to that I can’t break below 200k figure the past two weeks. It’s a puzzle, but of course it’s not that a big deal for me. “,)

I’ve just installed Alexa Toolbar 2 days ago, I’ve set my blog as homepage, I’m waiting to see the result. Writing review in Alexa might be quite difficult as not much people want to spend time doing this for you, but that’s a good try.

It seems like a lot of work bro. If I did start up my own I can tell you my numbers would be far fewer. 100 k is good if the ranks go up through the hundreds(k)

It only means that the other websites gain traffic on you and your traffic stayed where it was. I’m at 180k right now and improvement has been slow but steady so far.

To increase your Alexa rank in the long run, I would highly recommended that one focus on developing quality content which attracts and maintains a large audience instead of purely focusing on artificially increasing your Alexa Rank.
now your alexa rank is about 26k which means you dropped another 25k in the last 3 months, congrats
i have been planning to put some of these ideas into action soon, will start with the review thing next
