Ok here goes yet another Local Business that has taken the turn for shit, Abbey Carpet of Largo is and has been on my Radar for almost 9 months now. Which is actually pretty rare for me since I typically only Rant about Larger Business’s like Carnival Cruise Lines.
My initial issue with Abbey Carpet started back when the house was first built, we have Wood floors through 90% o the house and there was a Plank that was coming up. It took 3 phone calls from me and another 3 phone calls from the Home Builder to get someone out here to replace the plank, in all it took about 3 weeks before someone came out to fix it. That wasn’t that bad and I can except that.
As we get further into this it gets to the point of being beyond comical. About 9 months ago I called my Home Builder Mark Maconi Homes to get the phone number of whoever put the carpet in my house because I wanted to have the Master Bedroom carpet changed. They gave me the number and I gave Abbey Carpet a call to setup a carpet measure, I typically try to use the same people that did the work on the house. It’s too bad Abbey Carpet is one of those companies that doesn’t really give a shit if you use them or not. I called for 3 weeks, each time getting someone that told me that someone would call me back. I never heard back. As a matter of fact I have NEVER heard back from Abbey Carpet in regards to someone doing a Carpet Measure. I solved that problem by having Home Depot come in and do a measure last week, at least I know Home Depot is willing to take your money, I guess Abbey Carpet is too busy to do quotes.
Move on to the most recent event, I now have a problem with the wood floor that Abbey Carpet Installed, and I need someone to come out and repair it. I think it’s something that should be under warranty (I need to look), regardless I was willing to pay to have it repaired. I tried calling them for a week, than I turned it over to Fergie for her to contact them and set up the appointment. Fergie has called them over the course of the last month, finally someone calls here 2 days ago and says so and so would be calling her. In the mist of that going on, I also called Mark Maconi Homes to let them know about the issue, they also didn’t seem to give a shit. I got the number and called them, of course I left a message and till this day over a week and a half later, I have no return phone call from Mark Maconi homes and of course Abbey Carpet has yet to call anyone back.
You know there is really nothing like word of mouth to show how excellent a business is, but there’s nothing that speaks louder than words when a Business, which is in Business to do… BUSINESS has no urge to do any business. They have no urge to make more money, but when those same assholes that don’t really want to work but run around screaming and yelling about how things really took a crap once they do, or when they start laying people off because people are spending less. All though I think in the case of Abbey Carpet of Largo they won’t only be slower because of people spending less money, they will get slower because the possible repeat customers they would have think their a fucking joke. Sorry all I am over it with this company, Ill be more than happy to have Home Depot or Lowes or whoever install it an fix shit from now on.

It is amazing that they show no love to their customers. It is so important to a business to get positive feedback, and so that you can get referrals. I am utterly surprised that Abbey did this to you. Our carpet business relies heavily on word of mouth, and we have built a reputation around good quality materials and good craftsmanship. I sincerely feel for you!

I once readthat all you have to do to succeed nowadays is to show up on time and do only what is expected. I guess these guys aren’t even willing to do that much. It;s just crazy to throw away business like that.

John…Maybe next time you can call a dealer online and get your carpet or other flooring shipped from Dalton, GA. They will even help you find a reputable local installer. In the process, you’ll save a ton of cash. More cash for beer is always good.
