American Idol Eliminations and Review

This week the American Idol Top 7 performers performed “Music from the Movies” while Quinton Tarntino was the special guest for tonight’s performances. As Ryan Seacrest announced the judges he introduced Simon Cowell who addressed last week’s overrun of the show which caused viewers to miss Adam Lamberts performance, Simon blamed the girls for talking too much during last weeks show. Many of you seemed to enjoy last weeks American Idol Top 8 Eliminations review I did so I figured why not do it again and I hope you enjoy my American Idol Top 7 Finalists review and Eliminations post.

Adam Lambert – Adam Lambert was next up and if you have read my previous American Idol live results than you know I believe that Adam Lambert has American Idol locked down. Adam performed “Born to be Wild” from the movie Easy Rider and right from the first note you knew he was going to kill this performance (in a good way). Adam went on to do what I feel will be the performance of the night and maybe the entire competition. Simon felt differently and said that he didn’t feel this performance was as good as last weeks… Simon must have taken a sip from Paula’s cup.

Allison Iraheta – Overall I was not overly excited about Allisons performance, however it was original and she showed the same typical excellent range that we have become use to. Simon Cowell stated what I have been saying for weeks, he feels that Allison is the girls only hope for winning American Idol. Allison Iraheta performed “I Don’t want to miss a thing” from the movie Armageddon.

Anoop Desai – As Anoop gets ready to step up to the mic stand this week I wonder and wait to see what song he will destroy this week. I don’t have to wait long to find out he would be killing “Everything I do I do for you” by Brian Adams this week, I am now watching him practice the song and it is disturbing. I actually uncovered my ears during this performance as it went on, Anoop not only managed to not pulverize the song, and actually did a pretty decent job with it. I am shocked.

Danny Gokey – Another “Bye Week” performer hitting the stage for me in, Danny Gokey. We will not be winning and he is also lucky enough to hang around for one more week. Danny did a pretty good job performing “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie and impressed me for the first time this season. I would also like to add that at this point in the show it would be great if someone would duct tape Paula Abdul’s mouth shut. Paula was however happy with Danny’s performance, as was Simon who added that Danny’s performance really wasn’t very exciting. I agree.

Kris Allen – Kris Allen performed “Falling Slowly” from the Movie “Once”…. Never heard of it. Anyway, I assumed this would be another sleeper where Kris stands at the mic like a stick and whispers some boring song. In addition to the above comment, aside from being a boring sleeper of a performance it was also terrible in my opinion. The judges will most likely give Kris credit for picking an “original song”, but I am not too sure they will like his performance overall. Randy Jackson felt it was “Pitchy from the start”.

Lil Rounds – I will begin my review somewhat early on this one as Lil Rounds has not performed as of yet, however I am confident with my decision. Lil Rounds will not only fail at trying to make it happen tonight but she will be lucky enough to go home during the American Idol Eliminations tomorrow night.

Lil Rounds was the last American Idol Top 7 Finalist to perform tonight, her performance didn’t turn out to be the train wreck I thought it would be. Paula went on to babble about Lil Rounds performance, Simon Cowell went on to deliver the goods and back up what he said last week which is that Lil Rounds simply is not the performer he thought she was he also stated that he was “frustrated” with her. Lil Rounds jumped in for a quick moment to defend herself.. Not her worst performance, not good enough to stay.

Matt Giraud – Ahhh here is another one of those performances that I consider a “Bye Week” performance, Danny will be lucky enough to stick around a little longer…. However we know he is not going to win American Idol. Hence Bye Week. Danny performed “Have you ever really loved a Woman” by Bryan Adams.

As soon as Matt got voted off, I knew they were going to save him. I say this for two reasons. First, they only had the save available for one more week. Second, with Anoop and Lil still around (who will clearly not win), Matt was probably the best person to receive it. I can’t stand Gokey.

Yeah Gokey is annoying to me also. I can’t even believe he received the least amount of votes…. Less than Lil Rounds which is amazing to me.

i’m still pulling for Gokey, though I admit he needs to turn it up a notch if he wants to win the whole thing

@Nomad for some reason I never liked Gokey, or at least I never really saw him winning American Idol. I agree I think he needs to make some changes if he wants to stick around after the next cut.
