An email to Mark Maconi Homes

by Extreme John on August 27, 2009 |

It was only around a week ago that I wrote about my terrible experience with Mark Maconi Homes and specifically the Mark Maconi Homes Corporate Office in Palm Harbor, Florida. The fact is I am not happy with Mark Maconi Homes and certainly not happy or satisfied with the customer service I failed to receive in regards to a roof leak in our garage.

Anyway, this story seems to get worse with each drop of rain that falls. Not that shocking since I am complaining about a leaky roof above our garage which happens to be right above my car. The story took a turn today as I was sitting on the couch in our living room and going through a few emails, Lisa asked me if I had seen this area in our kitchen ceiling, I was figuring a bug or something along those lines.

Instead it was another area where there is a leak, this time it is in our kitchen. I decided to write Marck Maconi Homes Corporate Office an email on their website, here is what I had to say.

Email to Mark Maconi Homes Corporate Office

I can’t really imagine anyone actually checking up on this email form anymore since no one follows up on customer service issues, I decided I would give it a shot and see if I might be lucky enough to get someone at Mark Maconi Homes that wants to resolve an issue that they have been aware of for over a year, and now decided to push me off to some other company. I believe in giving companies a chance to redeem themselves and right their wrong, this is one of those chances.

I walked into my home today to find an additional roof leak in my kitchen, this is of course in addition to the one that you guys claimed to fix but never really did in my garage. Good times, just what I expected from my three year old “Quality” Mark Maconi Home.

Tomorrow is Thursday August 27, 2009, I will give Mark Maconi Homes until Friday August 28, 2009 to call me with a real resolution to the leaks in my home that Mark Makoni Homes has been aware of for over a year. I have already written an article about this situation and the run around I received from the Mark Makoni Home office, in the event I do not hear from someone I will be contacting my Attorney, Better Business Bureau, Angie’s List, and local news outlets to discuss the condition of the roof in my garage as well as the additional leaks.

In addition to the above I will go through great lengths to create awareness amongst the community as well as throughout the state in regards to the complete failure of Mark Maconi Homes and the staff at the Corporate Office throughout this entire situation. I understand the housing market took a crap, that’s too bad so did a lot of other things, the fact remains that you were paid to build a home and do it properly, you failed to do that and it is now your responsibility to resolve the issue.

I can assure you, I will not be going away, I will not just drop the issue and pay someone else to fix it, I will not be one to take a back seat while your company completely disrespects and fails to serve their customers. I look forward to someone resolving this issue, in the event you choose to ignore this like my previous pleas for assistance and resolve over the last four months, I will than look forward to ensuring that more than enough people know exactly how you do business.

Does anyone really think that someone from Marck Maconi Homes will get this issue resolved or do you think it’s going to end up being a big deal? Leave a comment and let us or better yet Mark Maconi know your thoughts on the situation.

I dunno… They’ve buggered you about for a year already, I don’t know if I can actually see them reading your mail, much less responding satifactorily to it.. But stick to your guns and kick their asses.. The only reason companies like this slip into the horrible service routine is because they’re lazy and nobody calls them out on it..

@Hard Rocking South African@Music Judge, I am ready to call them out on it as a matter of fact I wrote one single article and already have higher search engine results than they do.

Not something I believe they will be aware of until it’s too late but it might be a good idea to fix my issue.

It’s late and I am tired… but I am guessing Maconi Homes will do the right thing and fix it. Not because they are a great company… but because this bad press will cost them 10 times as much in the long run! But I am only guessing!

@Doug Dillard, in regards to this situation and the pathetic way they ran me around to eat up time and screw me over, I am thinking billboards and some local news coverage might put the nail in that coffin very quickly if they don’t address it.

That would suck if they don’t respond. If they don’t I would get the attorney involved because a three year old house shouldn’t be leaking that. Greg Ellison

@Greg Ellison, it is pretty amazing that a “Quality” home as they put it would be having so many issues with the roof.

If I were the ceo of Mark Maconi Homes, I would be scrambling over to John’s house and plug all the leaks myself before morning comes. Bad publicity is bad enough, but if it comes from an ExtremeJohn, you bet it’ll be extreme. I have read his rants in this blog, and I wouldn’t want to be in the receiving end of those rants.

I love your consumer advocacy skills. Aweseome letter, bro. I can’t believe that they haven’t responded to you by now.

But in my opinion, it’s the industry. Home builders and roofers – not reactive to problems or quick to take responsibility for their errors. And most have their money tied up in the next project, so they can’t afford to fix their mistakes. A lose-lose all around.

Give them hell and I’ll be happy to bash them on my site as well just for fun. I’ve got your back.

@The Constant Complainer, yeah not a single response so far today from the super high quality customer service representatives at Mark Maconi Homes.

I appreciate you shedding light on the Mark Maconi Homes customer service FAIL, thank you for having my back.

If they don’t get back to you, make a post encouring your readers to copy/paste a letter to send to them via their website, something like “Come on, would you take care of John’s leaks already!!” … that’ll spam them a lesson :)

@Klaus @ TechPatio, that is creative and I like it or maybe we can image source their site until we drag it to a halt old school style.

Or wait, better yet they can fix the leak that they know damn well is their responsibility and we can all move on, as a matter of fact I would even give them some kind of props for righting their wrong.

You’ve had so many problems with Maconi homes, oviously they are not doing their job, and keeping up their end of the bargin. Enevitabily they will continue to lose more and more business until they completly go under.

Oh no :( another crappy Company. Don’t people understand its ALL about customer service, yes people may come to you first, but they will not continue if the service is that poor. So sorry.

Extreme John August 28, 2009 at 3:59 pm

@Eggs, some companies understand, and very rarely do you find one that does crap like this and does it intentionally.

The time has already passed so I will begin my journey to ensure that I express how this situation turned out in every medium possible.

Send them links to these posts. I had a home warranty company treat me the same way and I went off on a rampage. I posted an entire blog (see my website link) on their asses. I filled a complaint against them on the BBB and posted complaints on various rip off and scam sites. I made it my mission to make things difficult for them. Not only did I get the money for the repairs, they even overnighted the check. They have been asking me to take down the site. Too bad for them I get some satisfaction of payback and I hope others see it before they waste their money on the useless warranty.

@Brian D. Hawkins, it’s now Monday and unless I check my voice mail and they did actually respond (which I know they didn’t) that is exactly what is going to happen.

It will start today with me printing this out and having a courier hand deliver it to their corporate office, it will continue with copies of the letters and the comments here on this blog post being sent to their higher ranking officers.

They know I won’t be letting this go any time soon, they are just like A Sound Decision another company that just decided to walk away from the job and never resolve the issues they created. Pretty funny to think that Mark Maconi Homes contracted them to do the initial install on my house and both provide equally terrible service.

Some businesses just never learn how important good customer service is. Bad customer service can ruin the reputation of the company and be spread quickly via the internet. I really hope your problem gets resolved for you and the companies sake.

Any contractor wants to avoid problems and negative publicity creates problems. A quality roofing contractor should stand by (and under) their work regardless of how busy they are or how much work they have to do. A satisfied customer may tell a friend. A dissatisfied customer will tell EVERYBODY!

Unfortunately 1 more case of lack of responsibility and professionalism in a company doing basic day to day work. Hopefully a solution can be found as the situation is surely unfair

@Dave@Casas para Venda, that would be great Dave, sadly Mark Maconi Homes couldn’t care any less about QUALITY or SERVICE. They won’t be doing anything to resolve this issue just as I am sure they aren’t out there resolving anyone else’s issue either, I’ve email bombed their “Corporate Office” and called numerous times to follow up, bottom line they don’t care.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment I appreciate it.
