Some of you might think, “Jesus, this guys been on a roll lately.” and well….. your fucking telling me! It feels pretty good lately to write about things that just annoy the shit out of me. Today I am back on an employee kick, before anyone writes in and bitches because they think it’s them it could be any employee past, preasent or future so don’t let your head get all full after you read this.
As I am getting ready to write this I can’t help but to think to myself that this blog post is going to be more of a question than anything. I am curious how many other people have really ever heard someone say they got a new job and took a pay cut and are thrilled about it? Think about it for a second before you go on and it will make sense to you, and some of you probably know exactly what I am talking about.
I have had the pleasure of working with other people in Mgmt and Non Mgmt rolls for the last 20+ years of my life and no matter what or how hard I try I have yet to ever meet someone that says they took another job and make less money than they did at their previous job. Now with that said it makes me sit here and onder why people seem to make such a big deal out of someone telling them they got a new job and make more money than they did at their previous job. I mean really how many people are going to run around screaming they make the same or less money than they did before?
The most annoying thing about that entire situation to me is the fact that I can’t understand why anyone feels the need to point that out in the first place. Really, who gives a flying shit what someone ELSE is making at their job? Everyone has their own responsibilities in life and regardless of what so and so makes it isn’t going to change anyone else’s bank situation. Not to mention out of all the things someone can bring up about a new position or job you have to question the one’s that pick how much they make as their main focus of topic. I have heard many people I respect in the professional world say ,”The one’s that brag about how much they make, don’t usually make shit.” I have always believed that to be the case in the past and will continue to do so moving forward, because again for the life of me I can’t imagine why anyone would feel the need to make that a big topic of discussion.
Now in reality and the professional world you should hopefully pick up job skills , references and work habits which would than in turn in most cases increase your value. It only makes sense, you should really avoid going from a job where you make more money to a job you make less money, especially if your taking a job in the same exact field you were in before your new job, that would just be fucking stupid. So to wrap things up boys and girls, we really really don’t give a shit what you made or make, we simply wish you well in whatever it is that you are doing now, and remember you don’t have to be Big Time Now with the people that helped you get there or TRULY enjoyed working with you along the way.
