Black Ping for Blackberry Review

Black Ping for Blackberry phones is an application that allows you to update your Ping.fm status from your Blackberry smart phone. Ping is a free service that makes it simple to update all of your social networks from one place, Ping automatically sends your status updates to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Linkdn and about 100 others without you actually visiting any of those sites.

I am one of those blogging CEO’s that thinks it is extremely important for small business’s to be involved in social media as much as possible, now if I only had another 100 hours a week to dedicate to it that would be great. I don’t and that’s exactly where Ping.fm comes in to play for me, being a multiple business owner I am constantly on the run and getting to the MacBook Pro to update my social networking feeds and send status updates is just impossible at times. Enter Black Ping for Blackberry.

Update Ping.fm from Blackberry Smart Phone

Black Ping for BlackberryEven though I am getting pretty tired of my Blackberry cell phone I am holding tight as I try to decide if I want the Droid or if I want to wait for the iPhone to come to Verizon in a couple of months. I mentioned earlier that Black Ping is a Blackberry app that you can use in conjunction with Ping.fm to update all of your social networks from one place, your Blackberry smart phone.

I have been testing Black Ping for a couple of months now and find myself using it more than I use Uber Twitter and my Facebook Blackberry application, it’s fast and simple and saves me from having to open Uber Twitter and my Facebook app to send status updates. Black Ping is currently in the very early beta stages and it needs a few more features as it’s pretty bare bones right now and lacks a lot of the options that Uber Twitter and other Blackberry applications for Twitter have.

One of the features I hope they add to Black Ping is a feature that allows you to take and send pictures directly to Ping.fm from within the Black Ping Blackberry app itself, currently you need to email the picture to your Ping.fm account which can be a pain in the a$$.

Black Ping is a hassle saver in the very same way that Ping.fm is, connect the two and updating your social networks from one place while your on the go or at your desktop is butta.

Thanks for the pointer, I happen to love my Blackberry, but each to their own. I just upgraded to my latest one, so getting the hang of the applications is interesting particularly ubertwitter, so maybe the bare bones nature of it will be good for us technically challenged people!

Does it let you select what sites you can update…in other words, I tweet a lot and don’t want it overwhelm my Facebook, is that possible?

Same boat you are in in. Hopefully same yacht someday soon. I’m hoping that Apple’s new tablet computer will make my life easier, especially when it comes to social media. I’m not sure if that’s what they are showing next week, but it’s a good chance. The other thing I’m hoping is that I don’t have to take out a loan just to buy it.

I am totally a Blackberry addict! I use SocialScope for Twitter (invite only still I think, but is so much better than Uber which was my favorite before getting SocialScope, you should ask for an invite from them).

I have always used my GoogleTalk app for Blackberry to post to Ping from both my desktop and my Blackberry, makes it easy for me since I use it a lot anyway (GTalk).

Will have to check it out though since I am a big app freak!

Please don’t cross over to iPhone, may the force be with you!

If you bought your BlackBerry on your own and don’t have a BES system, then a “BIS” email system (personal that comes with a BlackBerry if an individual purchases it from the carrier) it doesn’t support folders or filing of any sort.

I’m not a fan of Blackberry maybe because I don’t have a use for its features. I’m always a Windows Mobile person…for at least 7 years now.
