I know, I know you have probably been hearing all kinds of great things on all these different blogs about Blog Engage, all of a sudden everyone is a friggin master of Blog Engage and touting it’s greatness. I could go into some big thing about how I was one of the first in this little circle of newbie bloggers and pro bloggers alike to start playing with Blog Engage, I can even slip into some completely false rant about how I WAS THE ONE TO MAKE BLOG ENGAGE HUGE! Not you!
I can also probably spend my time wisely and just get back to the conversation about Blog Engage, sure you have seen it everywhere else as of late and that’s a great thing for Brian the hard working webmaster behind Blog Engage, it’s also nice to see a good thing go forward. Blog Engage is a good thing.
Blog Engage Information

Engage with Bloggers

Alexa Traffic Rank: 37, 598
Google Page Rank: N/A
Type: Social Media
As anyone that writes or maintains a blog on a daily basis knows, there are more plugins for WordPress than anyone could possibly keep up with, and in just about every category. When it comes to writing or reviewing various WordPress plugins I like to give the plugin plenty of time to show results, or of course #fail. I have now been using Blog Engage for a month or so and have some solid statistics and experience using the blog article submission tool, hence the reason for my BE review.
Who cares about Blog Engage?
Bloggers and anyone that enjoys reading blogs should care about Blog Engage, it’s an excellent way for bloggers to share their articles with others and provides an excellent place for surfers and blog readers to find interesting articles and vote on them.
What is Blog Engage?
“Blog Engage allows you to submit your Blog Article(s) that will be reviewed by all and will be promoted by me or our visitors to the main page.” source Blog Engage.com
Why would I add Blog Engage to my blog?
This is completly up to you, it’s your blog. However if you are looking for a few reasons that you should consider adding Blog Engage to your blog, than I have the candy your looking for.
- Blog Engage broke into my Top 10 referrers last week
- Blog Engage’s page views are up 245% in the last 3 months
- Alexa traffic rank has climbed over 40,000 places in 3 months
- Over 30% of Blog Engage traffic is US based
- My Blog Engage traffic has tripled in three weeks
What does Blog Engage cost?
Nothing it’s free, and if anything this little goody can generate some sweet traffic returns and as you know TRAFFIC = DOLLARS!
How hard is it to install Blog Engage?
This is about as simple of a WordPress Plugin anyone could ever ask for in regards to promoting your own blog or having users help promote your blog with a simple Digg up style system. You can download Blog Engage here.
How does Blog Engage Compare?
I have written about all kinds of social media tools for blogging over the last few months, I was a big fan and user of the Twittley Button for a long time and recently wrote about Twittl which is another blog article submission tool and voting system. Out of the various social media buttons and voting style systems I have had here on my blog I seem to be getting the most out of Blog Engage right now, as I said it’s in my top 10 referrers for last week.
Room for Growth
As with anything there is always room for growth, I prefer not to call it improvement because I think Blog Engage and the system it runs on are right for the current times. As Blog Engage grows I wouldn’t mind seeing a few things change and upgrade along the way, and as if anyone cares I was nice enough to include a list of the features I would like to ee added to Blog Engage, features that I believe will give it longevity.
- Self contained vote button, vote and stay on site
- Guest voting without registration, maybe Facebook, Twitter OpenID?
- Fast and simple user registration, let users complete profiles later by choice
- More button colors and designs
- I need to be more involved in Blog Engage
If you like this review of Blog Engage do me a solid and vote it up on Blog Engage or take a second and subscribe to my rss feed it’s free and will keep you warm at night, and be sure to stop by Brian (the guy from Blog Engage) blog SEO MKT and tell him that the guy that put Blog Engage on the map sent you over, sorry I couldn’t resist.
Leave a comment if you have anything snappy to say or better yet you have something exciting to add about Blog Engage, and keep your eyes peeled because I have a Blog Engage Traffic Chain coming your way in the next few days, you will want to get involved in that FREE traffic.

I’m very familiar with BlogEngage and I know what a good site it really is. Unfortunately for me I don’t have the time to ‘socialize’ as much as I should. Heck, I don’t even get the time to promote my own posts let alone someone those of another blogger.
Anyway, I tried to vote on this post but as I was the first one to do so I had to go through all the rigmarole of adding the title, which I plumb forgot, and stuff. Sorry, no time for that shit. I’ll come back later and vote after someone else does all the hard work.

I just registered at BlogEngage last week and I think it has a big potential to really become big among us, bloggers. Maybe it will give BlogCatalog a run for its money.

Well just so you don’t stew for long

1 this was a great post. I always been about promoting others and sites since day one now whether they appreciate it is another story.
2 I like Blogengage and Brian.
3 Blogcatalog is a mind boogling site and why bloggers waste their time on there in beyond me and reality.
4 I wrote that other comment as my 12 yo son was trying to get my attention so I thought I was being funny.
But it’s a great site and tool for bloggers otherwise I wouldn’t use it

Hey there John, love your review of BlogEngage, couldn’t of put it any better myself, I have found BlogEngage a great asset to my blog, it’s certainly sent it’s share of traffic my way and I’ve met some fellow bloggers and their blogs that I wouldn’t of found without it…

I got to know it from Brian blog, and I found it quite interesting and I’d just registered with BlogEngage, I submitted one of my blog post to there as well, I’ve yet to check out the performance of this.
Anyway, that’s a great site indeed!

I am a big fan of Blog Engage too. It is really the only social bookmarking site that looks out for bloggers. Brian is working his ass off to make this site take off and I am glad that it is starting to. The bigger the site gets, the bigger all bloggers who participate in it will get.

@Sire I read your article, actually included it in one of my Sunday Smash posts. You can only do what you can do, and what you enjoy doing.
@Michael R I hope your right, I wouldn’t mind some free Do Follow traffic.
@John Sullivan Rookie
@Doug it’s a plugin, super simple one actually and I like how this guy wrote that plugin. I will include it in my Sunday Smash.
@Karen no doubt BE does a good job of putting people together.
@Asswass reviews are not something I enjoy writing to be honest, I do them when I see something that I use on a daily basis that is good so I review it. I don’t review a lot of individual blogs, as a matter of fact I don’t think I have ever reviewed one.
@Tycoon Blogger I agree
That’s pretty well my motto John, and I try to live by it as best I can. Shit, what else can I do, I’m only one blogger

What an amazing review. I can say it’s by far the most informative as a user and blog owners. I can also say it’s an amazing insight as I am also the co founder and owner of blogengage.
It’s great that I have managed to convert your into a loyal blogengage member John. It’s been so beneficial for me and you. I also notice due to your heavy activity as a member you also get a lot of Engages on your articles.
I think the coolest thing about our site and as you already mentioned is we are for bloggers and bloggers only. This truly separates us from the other junk in the world and allows us to focus on what matters and that’s helping other bloggsrs like me and you.
I love your suggestions and will take them into consideration when modifying the websites plug-ins and voting capability. Perhaps I will have a vote and see if the majority of members want to have anonymous voting turned on.
Thanks so much for the positive review. I’m happy to see we are starting to be in your top referrers but as I tell all our members. You can only expect to get what you put into something. You have earned all of your blogengage traffic by simply being and active members and participating within the community.

I think if Blogengage and the users work hard on it. It will soon compete with Sphinn.com which is related to same thing.

Typhoon´s last blog ..Which Search Engine you choose in blind search test?
@Typhoon, I haven’t really thought of the competition thing, I do liek the traffic I see from it though.
Hey John,
You can’t take any credit for putting Blog Engage on the map, because everyone knows that the party didn’t get started until I arrived!!! lol
Seriously, I just signed up about 2 weeks ago and so far I am enjoying the community. This is my first visit to your blog and I can see why you call yourself “extreme” (you-and-your-straight-jacket-wearing-self).
I have tried other blogging sites but so far this one is the one I like the most. Someone mentioned Sphinn, and other mentioned Blog catalog. Are they even in the same league? Not in my book. This is a like a cool place to hang out, not some stuffy old…I don’t even know what to call them….
Thanks for the post and thanks to Brian for starting this community.

Good post. However, I do not see anything that would make me want to use BlogEngage as it seems to me like just one more thing to clutter your webpage with. Not so different from other blogger communities out there, like blogcatalog. Just my opinion though.
I would have to agree with you Jay, Blog Engage was great for a minute, as for Blog Catalog… Blah. Thank you for taking the time to comment I appreciate it.
