I’m not a huge coffee drinker but lately I found myself wanting one of those new Ice Coffees from Burger King called BK Joe. These BK Joe Coffees are like little hand grenades of sugar and great taste and certainly worth every single fat filled drop. I have no problems going out of my way to get one of these things and a few people have said they are like Chocolate Milk, I think it’s great regardless if it’s like Chocolate Milk or not.
I noticed that the local McDonalds had some new coffee drinks out as well but didn’t think anything of it until today when I went into that McDonalds and they had an entire coffee counter (like a small Starbucks) setup in the McDonalds. I figured O.k why not try McDonalds new ice coffee called McCafe and based on the coffee menu they had a few options of flavors, which is different than the BK Joe Ice Coffee which only has one flavor. I also noticed that McDonalds had a Vanilla cream that was Fat Free that they use where Burger King says nothing about the “health of the product” and honestly for me I don’t give a shit, when Im getting something like that I expect it to be full of crap thats bad for me.
After taking a look at the spiffy new counter they threw in with all the new McCafe signs I was compelled to get one and decided to order up the Mocha Ice McCafe. it look nice and they had some girl dressed in a Starbucks like apron that made the Mocha Ice Concoction I ordered. Everything about McDonalds Ice Coffee presentation was great, I even remember thinking at one point, “Wow they ae getting the name out there quick with a creative marketing plan” where I don’t see much advertising for Burger Kings BK Joe Ice coffee. Even with the presentation and the big push that McDonalds has in the stores as well as the fancy coffee maker person still isn’t enough to make me get another one from there. I didn’t like the overall flavor of the Mocha McCafe and to be honest with you I can’t say I picture myself getting one for myself anytime in the near future.

OVERALL: BK Joe is the choice for EJ!
REASON: The McCafe reminded me of a strong coffee taste or an Old Coffee taste. BK Joe is a much smoother drink.
DOWNER: BK Joe needs to come up with a size like Dunkin Donuts for their Ice Coffee’s, that would be hot.

I agree it’s an excellent move on their part from a business stand point, I just wish I liked the coffee’s better.

If you’re trying to diet Try one of my lowcarb iced coffee blends, start with a dark blend, medium strong, fill to 3/4 in a large cup with ice. Add Splenda to taste for sugar sub, add half & half or 100% cream to get the desired shade of light brown, top with a spoonful of Cool Whip, if desired.
Yummy, all the caffeine and just about zero carbs.

@Dick, Splenda is really a poor choice of sweetener, healthwise. Sucralose (Splenda) was actually discovered by scientists trying to develop a new insectiside. The safety issues have not been fully resolved, and, with the FDA’s history of coddling big business until people actually die, I wouldn’t expect any revelations forthcoming.
Stevia is a natural herbal sweetener that has been used for centuries with no problems reported. I would use it instead of Splenda in my recommendations for any non-sugar sweetener.
And the Kool-Whip contains hydrogenated oil unless its changed since the last time I read the label several months ago. Real wipped cream in moderation might be a better choice, since the human body is designed to be able to digest it.
An even better choice would be to learn to like coffee black. It is an acquired taste, just like most of our likes and dislikes.
