Burnt Florida Lawn Pictures

by Extreme John on July 16, 2009 |

I know your probably thinking that i’ve lost ly mind if I think your going to come here to look at some pictures of my burnt up front lawn from the recent Florida drought, how dare me waste your time! Ok, actually I am going to waste your time by posting pictures of the damage to my front lawn thanks to the twenty nine straight days of no rain and severe temperatures.

Florida Drought Picture
Some crazy ass pattern cooked into the front lawn

I know your finding this stuff to be the perfect cliff hanger or the sexiest pictures you have ever seen by this point, and I know your dieing to see more pictures of the front lawn. Go ahead and click continue. :)

This picture of burnt landscaping also features my 9′ frame

Having a crapped up front lawn pisses me off, being OCD I like a nice green perfect front lawn and always have. At this point it’s not even worth replacing the areas of burnt sod because it’s still extremely hot and dry here in SUNNY Florida.

This is the third baked area of the front lawn

Now that you have seen how exciting the front lawn looks, and you have seen me bitch about my theater, and recently heard me cry like a baby about the landscaping company, you can now get the hell out of here. Have a great day.

*Disclaimer: I really don’t want or expect you to get the hell out of here, I just felt as if I needed an MTV Cribs moment to spark up this fried up article. Oh, if you do leave expect a formal complaint.

We have a huge water shortage out here in San Diego and they just put restrictions on water usage in the last couple of months. Our entire front lawn is starting to look like that :(

I live in north central Florida, in good soil, and have a new lawn (1 year old)… Unfortunately, I have mole tunnels all over the new lawn… Not only the moles, but the squirrels and foxes dig up the moles… So, i have tunnels and holes in my new lawn… I’m am completely aggravated with these things… Does anybody know how to get them gone for good… I will poison, stab, drown, burn, whatever it takes to get these things gone…

@sangalicoius1 I never even thought of that, maybe it was a small spaceship that landed there.

@Doug Dillard Ouch, does your lawn usually come back to being green after a dry season like that?

@james moralde Haha I might have had my EJ cape on in that photo, sometimes I forget to slip into the phone booth and change real quick before walking outside.

@CAD Programs Eeeek moles suck. Moles envade a property for food, that food is grubs. Kill the grubs and the moles will leave along with the rest of the issues that moles create.

1) If the problem is really bad, invest in a “Have a heart” mole trap, they also sell another “Fatal” trap as well. Traps help.

2) A trap will not work alone, as long as there is food moles will continue to come. Try to pick up some Dursban lawn treatement, Home Depot has it in a granular form as well as a easy hose hookup form.

After applying Dursban for the first time, follow up with another treatment as stated but switch the product to Diazanon, changing up the products reduces the chance of any unwanted pests growing an immunity to the treatment.

Let me know if that helps.

I guess the 10 years of Home Depot experience was useful after all. Haha.

Sucks when you have a gorgeous lawn and the sun decides to burn the shit out of it. Hopefully you don’t have a water restriction like we do here…..I live by the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area and they still restrict us. Hmmm, go figure!!

@Mary Ann yeah good old Mother nature is going to do whatever she wants I guess, and cooking seems to be here favorite thing right about now.

I can’t even imagine what the reasoning is behind the restriction by you, are levels even low?

@BBrian017 We do water it for the 20 minutes per section we are are “allowed” haha to water it for, it’s kinda like peeing into the wind.

We here in LA are due for more fires soon. Referring to the ones up in the hills, not “in other places.”

Mother nature is a beast that takes many forms. It’ll rain again soon…no?

@The Stabbing Pen actually it just rained for about 3 seconds, we should be good for a few more weeks of straight 90+ temperatures haha. Yeah those California forest fires are bad news.

Yikes! Reminds me of the grass in Canada — always burnt. No one really seemed to care about their lawn.

On the other hand, now I’m in California, and I have not seen a single patch of burnt grass in the neighborhood I live. :-P

Kinda looks like my lawn right about now! Along with the groundhog holes, pee marks from the pup and ant hills every 5 feet.

@Lace ahh so you have the same drought kicking there than too huh, get some Dusban and take care of at least 2 out of 3 of those problems.

chinch bugs,Dude. Our FL lawns don’t “burn.” Lay on the lawn… pull up grass… it’s those tiny things w white wings. If you don’t get onboard fast.. it’s the beginning of the end…

@Deb I had it checked for those little bastards, the neighbor has them but they said we don’t. Now it makes me wonder.

With the summers getting hotter and hotter and the issues we are having with water, nice looking lush green lawns will be a thing of the past I reckon, in the not to distant future. BOWOOOWoo

That shouldn’t be happening to you JB. My parents yard was beautiful until my father stopped maintaining it. The sod turned to dirts and weed within a year of his departure.

Good work writing this. I recently wrote something along these lines for a new squidoo lens. My sister, who is a avid blogger, saw this article and mentioned that I might be interested because of the similarities to mine. Since it is related I will bookmark this blog for future references.
