10 New Words You Should Know

First up this morning: Data Security Is Not Important Until Someone Steals It: Are You Securely Sending Files. After working online for…well I don’t even know how long anymore, I can’t tell you how high up on the list data security sits for my small businesses. Unless you have ever run in to a situation where things just go terribly wrong with data transfer – whether you’re talking a simple e-mail or a complete theft of identity – you just can’t understand the magnitude of how wrong things can go. This article covers some facts and figures on data security that all small business owners should take a look over.

Also in news this morning: Top 10 Twitter Trends This Month. My love for social media is unending and I’m fairly certain that you guys all know that already! With that said, part of staying on top of social media is to stay on top of the trends taking place in networks such as Twitter. This article covers some of this month’s biggest trends when it comes to Twitter! Included in the keywords that hit this month: soccer, Justin Bieber, British riots and hurricane Irene.

Next up this morning: 23 Reasons Your Blog Isn’t Making Any Money (And What To Do About It!). I can’t tell you how many of the e-mails I get each and every day are people asking me how they can make money on their own blog. I ran across this article this morning and thought of each of those e-mails and just had to share because if anyone will appreciate this article you guys will. Some of the most common problems included in this article: being a “billboard in the desert” and “Selling ice to Innuits.”

Last up this morning: 10 New Words Every Business Owner Should Know. Being a small business owner can often be difficult, keeping up with current trends, staying on top of business and…well, just about everything else, but this article is a great time saver when it comes to keeping up with current trends. Included in this article are ten words that every small business owner needs to familiarize themselves with. Included in these “must know words”: light-bulb moment and cross functional.

According to me it is very difficult to earn money through blogs today as a lot of patience is required. Google panda update has created problems for all those bloggers who were copy cat.

Security
I think there are a LOT of people who don’t understand e-mail is not secure.

10 words
Light Bulb moment – I like that one. Denialist – Oh I can think of times I can use that one too. Cyberbullying- boy I think someone has to be clueless to not know that one. You don’t even have to have a computer to know that. It’s been all over the news for years.

23 reasons
Your right the best of the bunch.

>there’s a few homeruns out there to be hit but it’s never easy.
Yeah everyone is looking for the easy money. the reality is success takes work.

@ Nawaz I am not sure you can just blame Google Panda. There is more competition now and the newness factor has worn off. As the article said e-books aren’t exactly a new concept any more.

Progress starts in any field when the businessmen learns from their mistakes and follow the advices of all those intellectuals who are above them.Without advice progress is inevitable either the business is at small level or at large level.

I think the biggest mistake i ever made in my blogging days is to blog about something i didn’t feel any passion for. Really if you don’t feel passion for what your writing about its gonna be hard to sell it to someone else. Of course does days are over but im not in it for the money purely, its about getting your content out their. Great reads as usual john!

Hello John! I read “23 Reasons Your Blog Isn’t Making Any Money (And What To Do About It!)” and man was I in for a ride! I could make an outline for what bloggers need to be doing there and get still get so much.. It made me proud that I was not guilty of most of the stuff mentioned but it goes to show that I really have left some things out too.. I need to be optimizing, communicating and I wonder if I have the right format too.. :D

Well, it’s too early to say whether or not I am making any of those mistakes, as I just started blogging again like 4 days ago. But, I’m going to learn those 23 reasons inside out, so I don’t have to learn from my mistakes.

On another note, my blog is only going to be for a little side income (who knows though, could go big) My main stream of income is going to be through authority niche sites, and micro niche sites. For some reason, I feel like that’s where the real money is. I basically use my blog to keep myself motivated and track my journey. If I ever do own a business though, which I hope to, blogging will be a big part of my game plan. It’s effective, at the least.

What, are you actually saying you can’t just toss up a blog and make millions with little to no work?

People really have no idea how much work it takes to run a successful site.

Awesome blitz. Do you send this out as a newsletter by the way?

For some reason, copyblogger is taking ages to load on my browser but I’m sure I’m doing something wrong (which I presume would be on that list) with my side-project blog because I have yet to see a significant ROI on that venture.

You are right as always. The 23 reasons are excellent tips for a new blogger. For us, veterans, it’s a bit hard to read and admit that we have been making those mistakes even though we should know what we’re doing by now.
