First up this morning: 15 Inspirational Steve Jobs Quotes. There has been a lot of reflection over the past few days in regards to the many things that Steve Jobs has contributed to the world. I am including this article this morning because some of those contributions were great statements that will hopefully relight your fire. My favorite? “Stay Hungry, stay foolish.”

Another Steve Jobs article that caught my attention this morning shared a few notes on how Steve Jobs changed business, and did this guy ever change business! Included among the notable changes in this article: Blurring the Lines Between Work and Play and Introducing Simplicity.

Next up this morning: Stop Waiting To Be Rescued: 5 Ways To Bail Yourself Out. The economy is still struggling and I know my fair share of small business owners who are struggling as well. When I read this article though I had to share because I am the type of guy who believes in helping yourself. I don’t believe in the concept of sitting around and waiting for help to come because as a small business owner you had the strength to get yourself to where you are today. So what are some of the tips in this article? Generate your own “personal economy”, Be accountable for what you did today and Think customer and vendor financing.

Lastly this morning: 5 Common Security Mistakes Made By Small Businesses. A huge part of having a business in today’s age is having an online presence but it’s not just your online presence that demands security measures to be taken. Included in this article are five security mistakes that many small businesses make including: No password policy or controls, Out-of-date or disabled anti-virus software and You don’t know the exact network location of your sensitive business information, including intellectual property, HR information, financial and tax records, and customer data.

The post on the 5 security mistakes businesses make was a very relevant one. It’s surprising how many large businesses don’t do that either. I just wrote a post for the Big4 blog about a study from a major auditing firm that showed many large corporations (almost half I think) with revenues over $1 billion have no security program in place. Kinda scary!
