Communication

First up this morning: 6 Common SEO Mistakes On Small Business Websites. SEO fascinates me as does the obsession with companies to always have the most up to date SEO tricks but very seldom do small business owners stop to think about the mistakes that they may be making in SEO. So what are some of these mistakes? Building a site on a free subdomain or social media site, Duplicate or non-descriptive title tags and Building primarily flash-based websites.

Also in news this morning: How To Communicate Effectively. Communication is one of the biggest things that every business owner needs to understand is how to communicate effectively. Whether your business is large or small it is crucial to be able to communicate with employees, customers and potential customers. This article includes some tips on how you can communicate effectively including: be precise, don’t sugar coat it and anticipate and invite questions.

Next this morning: Five Simple Rules for Building a Blockbuster Brand. Everyone wants to build a “blockbuster” brand but very few small business owners are actually familiar with how to go about building their brand. This article covers some of the rules for making sure that you build your brand successfully including: follow your heart, start small, go with your gut and partner up.

Finally this morning: What Your Business Can Learn From Apple’s Battle with Samsung. Apple and Samsung have been making the news a lot lately as they battle over product infringement but just what is it that your business can learn from this skirmish? Preliminary injunctions are hard to win but do have an impact. If no other, make sure you read this article this morning.

Parting Shots

My favorite article this morning as far as learning business ins and outs is the article on Apple and Samsung, this is a valuable one packed full of information that you need to know as a small business owner.

For companies that are getting into SEO, I would say that the biggest mistake that I have seen is thinking SEO is something you slap on at the end. Time and again they end up with a mess of a site that is breaking every SEO rule (or suggestion) imaginable, and you know it would have cost have as much to fix if SEO was brought in from the design phase.

Well, not quite an “SEO mistake” as such, but its the one that has frustrated me the most.

Otherwise from the list of 6 in the article, I find that the link building one is the biggest offender. They often don’t want to pay to outsource it, but then they find it bores them to death when they try it :)

Dear John,

Well i would say that the most common mistake in seo is focusing more on offsite work rather than onsite work.

Original Content is the key .Hope u do think the same way.

Cheers .
