Hot Business News For October 5th, 2011
First up this morning: iPhone 4S: 4 Reasons to Upgrade. If you remember me mentioning it, Apple was set to announce the new iPhone yesterday although the announcement wasn’t quite what a lot of people expected. Instead of the iPhone 5 Apple instead released the iPhone 4S a scaled down version of what everyone thought it should be. With the disappointment noted however, there are a number of reasons why you should consider upgrading anyway, take a look over this article for details.
Also in news this morning: Get Your Customers to Give You a Referral. This article caught my attention because one of the largest portions of my new tanning customers at my indoor tanning business come to me through referrals. This article covers suggestions by the author of Duct Tape Marketing that will be presented in a series of insightful blog posts.
Next up this morning: Kick the Clutter to Reverse a Bad Day. As a small business owner I don’t always get the time to let days turn in to “bad days” but once in a while a bad day creeps in and I have to say that I completely agree with this article because decluttering always seems to help me turn a bad day in to a productive one. Sometimes just a buildup of clutter can lead to a bad day but I always find that I get more creative flow going when I clean up just a little of the clutter that always seems to build up.
Lastly this morning: Minimum wage to rise in eight states. This article is a particularly important one for small business owners who reside within the eight states in question. The automatic annual increase in minimum wage is set to affect: Washington, Arizona, Florida, Vermont, Colorado, Montana, Ohio and Oregon.
Parting Shots
It may seem strange but my favorite article this morning has to be the minimum wage hike article because I like knowing that I am able to keep all of my fellow small business owners informed of upcoming changes.

I believe that a good entrepreneur must be able to predict the effects of inflation on the wages of its employees.
Anyway, I usually bestow awards on productivity to my employees, which often are paid higher than minimum wage

Great news, NOT.
Why does the government have to keep giving mandatory raises to screw over the small business owner? I have had to give my employees raises over the past 3 years yet I have not been able to give myself a raise. There is a reason most of these folks are working for minimum wage, cause they have no work skills or motivation, yet the government insists on making us pay them more. More business expenses equals higher retail prices which just eats up their raises. Hummm
Thats like Obamas tax relief bill that takes about 20% out of Social Security contributions nationwide, yet only puts few bucks a week in most peoples paychecks that realy need the extra money. Another long term mistake by our leaders.
