Friday has rolled back around again and it’s time once again to cover the business headlines in today’s Business Blitz here at Extreme John ! Today I’ll cover a number of small business tips which include: the sale of Myspace, managing your office team outdoors, ten accessories to boost employee morale and more.

Hot Business News For July 1, 2011

First up this morning Myspace finally makes the news again as the social network is sold to an ad network for $35 million! It’s been a while since Myspace really made the news since Facebook seemed to take over the picture. Myspace doesn’t seem to be hurting all that much though with $35 million in their pocket now! The sale means that not only with the CEO, Mike Jones, be leaving the company but so too will most of the staff from the original company crew. What will become of the service is not quite known yet but there are rumors that the new Myspace will focus on music rather than personal networking.

Next up this morning, “Website “must-haves” for a small business.” This article is actually more of a short tip; however, it’s a useful one – Create a testimonials page for your small business. Keep an eye on the Micro Business blog and you will find some more great tips to implement in your small business.

Another article that caught my attention this morning was “10 Accessories to Boost Office Morale.” I notice that certain times of the year my associates would much rather be outside at the beach than they would be in the office so I found this article to be a great read. Keeping associates happy and motivated is a huge part of being a small business owner and this article has some great tips! Included among them: the jumbo fridge moustache magnet – who wouldn’t smile at that?

Lastly this morning “How to Manage Teams Outside Your Office.” Whether you are out of the office as a “boss” or whether your entire team is spread all over the place for a special event, there is always a need to manage and this article includes some important tips to help you to make sure that this management takes place. Included among tips in this article: consistent communication and using the Cloud.

Parting Shots

Today my favorite article has the 10 Accessories for Boosting Office Morale article has to be my favorite because it’s Friday and I am more than ready for the July 4th weekend!

It would appear the sale of MySpace is a good tax write off for Rupert Murdoch at News Corp. In 2005 they bought it for $580 and then just sold it for $35M! As you mention, it looks like they are going to focus more on music, and it has just been recently announced that Justin Timberlake has bought a share in the business. I guess we’ll have to just wait and see what happens!

There are not many users of Myspace thus not many will be unhappy..i hardly ever logged onto it..it wasn’t upto the standards of Facebook and Twitter so this had to happen..anyways lets hope that the new one is better than Facebook and Twitter..:)
