First up today in the business world, Paypal announces their teaming with Philanthroper, a website dedicated to promoting new non-profit organizations that utilize donations through Paypal to boost their fund raising efforts. The Philanthroper site requests that site visitors donate just $1 for each cause and keeps a running total of all donations made for the day. Each day brings a new non-profit organization that can benefit from donations.
Also this morning in business news Bloomberg Businessweek brings insight from 20 years of boosting entrepreneurs. Dean Lindal of the Entrepreneur’s Organization sits down in an interview with a Smart Answers columnist to share some of his expertise in the business field including the qualities that make for a good and successful entrepreneur. According to Lindal being positive, being inspired, being willing to take risks and aware of the global marketplace.
This morning an interesting study also crossed my desk. This study that featured on Fast Company, stresses the importance of decreasing resource consumption because with current trends resource consumption will soon reach disastrous proportions if from a global perspective we are not able to separate our use of natural resources and the impact of our economic growth on the environment. I generally prefer not to buy in to panic theories but the future of our global economy will certainly suffer based on the data presented in this article and a slip in the global economy is something that all small business owners need to be aware of.
Lastly this morning in business news, an article that piqued my interest if only because of the headline “How the Buddha Solved His Marketing Problem.” The premise of this article centers on the importance of the characteristics of Buddha in marketing your business and your product, characteristics such as generosity and having a purpose. These are not the only tips included in this article; however, also included in this article is the importance of a number of lessons that Buddha learned or taught through his journey. If you are a small business owner looking to improve your marketing technique this is a great article to take notes on.
Parting Shots
From philanthropy to Buddha, today has been quite a diverse day in business news headlines but while all of these articles may seem to span a wide range of subjects, they all hold crucial information that small business owners can utilize.

“How the Buddha Solved His Marketing Problem” was a nice read.
After reading this article and when I sat back to think OK does this make sense and yes it did.
Without having any purpose or motive whats the point doing that thing. One should always set his or her goals to achieve the maximum.

Setting big goals is important, setting many smaller achievable goals is even more important.
We all know we (the world) are reducing our natural resources at an alarming rate. Yet I continue to receive pounds of junk mailers delivered to my home mailbox. How much paper is wasted on this crap that nobody wants. There should be an Opt-Out Flag for our home mailboxes, if the green flags up on the mailbox, DONT fill my mailbox with junk mail.
Hummm, this would put the USPS out of business, I guess no green flag, even if it would save several rain forests every year.

It’s a “we’ll deal with that later” situation. As in “later when I’m not on earth anymore so it’s not my problem”, which sucks even more because our future generations are going to have some severe mountains to climb. Check Haiti
