Hot Business News For July 26, 2011
First up this morning the Facebook iPad App preview has leaked out and Mashable has the screen shots to the app. At one point the app was completely accessible but after the leak it didn ‘t take long for them to catch on and prevent viewers from accessing it.Check out this article though and get a feel of what is to come if you are a chronic iPad user like me!
Next up this morning LinkedIn launches a button that lets applicants apply for jobs directly from LinkedIn. The apply within LinkedIn button has been a long time coming but now that it’s finally here a lot of LinkedIn users are breathing a sign of relief as another step in the tedious job hunting process is eliminated. Take a look through this article and check out how the new apply for jobs button works!
Also in news this morning”Every Business Needs a Bench: 6 Steps to Building a Strong One.” This article was a fun read that focused on the fact that in order to succeed a business needs to have an entire team or a “bench” supporting it rather than relying upon just one or two key players. Some of the keys suggested to building a good bench for your business? Build your own team and pay attention to what people want to do.
Last up this morning: “Three Business Lessons From the NFL Lockout.” Sure the lockout has ended but quite a few people think that there is something to be learned from the lockout in terms of small business ownership. What is it exactly that makes the negotiations of the lockout situation applicable to small businesses? The focus that the NFL maintained on the fan experience, something which small business owners must focus on when it comes to their customers. The moral of this article? Focus on the needs of the clientele and the rest will fall in to place.
Parting Shots
This morning my favorite article has to be the bench article because while a lot of businesses tend to focus on one or two key players who make top sales I like to focus on every employee at my small business locations.

I have to say I liked what was shared about the application of the NFL lockout to small business operations. The part about focusing on clientele and everything will work out – I can relate this similarly to having a quality product at the core of your business. If your product is great, you don’t need to go out of your way to push some crazy marketing scheme. Then again, marketing myopia is a dangerous illness
Thanks for the fresh perspective!
