Good Thursday morning guys! We’re heading in to the end of the week here at Extreme John and that means that it’s time for some business news in the Business Blitz! Today’s business blitz post features a resurrected company, social media tips and more
Hot Business News For May 26th, 2011
First up this morning in business news an article that caught my eye because it’s not often that you see stories of businesses that have bounced back from crisis situations but Entrepreneur recently ran an article on how Tumblr managed to lift themselves out of crisis. Despite losing millions of blogs last year, David Karp the creator of Tumblr kept on trucking and managed to learn from near failure and bring his company back from the brink!
Next this morning Twitter makes Entrepreneur magazine as Starr Hall shares Five Ways to Use Twitter for Marketing That You Might Not Know About. I am ALWAYS looking for new ways to use social networking which is why this article jumped out at me as soon as I saw it. Whether you are a veteran Twitter user or whether you are new to the Twitter scene this article has some really great tips on how to can maximize your traffic and increase your exposure.
Next up on the business scene this morning, Twitter acquires TweetDeck! There are quite a few Twitter applications out there but Tweetdeck is one of the most utilized of all third-party Twitter applications and now it is owned by Twitter themselves. According to Twitter, Tweetdeck will remain a mostly independent service and will remain updated. No price has officially been released for the purchase but according to rumors Twitter paid around the $40 million mark!
Last up this morning Mashable featured an article by Benjamin Lang on “10 Ways for Entrepreneurs to Build Brands Online.” By now you guys know how important I find online promotion to be and there is no easier way to promote yourself than with a well built brand. Don’t think you’re brandable? Check out this article and you could find that you’re wrong!
Parting Shots
Quite a few good articles surfaced this morning for business owners looking for tips on how to improve their business’s presence online but my favorite article this morning was the one on Tumblr!

Wow, I hadn’t heard Twitter bought Tweetdeck yet, a good investment for sure for them. Now if only they can do T.co shortlink integration with Tweetdeck and provide analytics like Bit.ly for it.

No doubt Justin, Twitter can do some big things with TweetDeck and I’m sure all of that has been considered HEAVILY on Twitter’s part. I just hope this doesn’t put a stop to some of the other excellent social media managers out there like HootSuite, TweetDeck and a few of the up and comers.
Tweet Tweet Mother F.
Amazing what these social sites are getting for buyouts.
Amazing mad cash.
Wonder what they would pay for a coffee blog

Yeah no kidding. A good friend of mine Chris said it best, he said something along the lines of, “amazing how a company with no way to monetize buys a company for that much money that can’t be monetized.”
So true.

Wow! I can’t believe Twitter has been complaining that they are having a difficult time monetizing the social network, but than they spend a rumored 44 million for TweetDeck? It just doesn’t make sense.
Thanks for sharing the news. Now Twitter has more power and will introduce more options for their members.

Glad you found something useful Mohammad. Some quick advice in the future since you seem to be all about the “Do Follow”. Instead of using your blog name to comment here, use your real name and then follow it with the @YOUR KEYWORDS. This will give you better targeted traffic from my blog (and many others) via the KeywordLuv plugin, it will also stop me from hitting the spam button when you comment in the future.
wow.. i think this post is cool. Glad i was able to come across your site… anyway, guess i will be checking out that “10 Ways for Entrepreneurs to Build Brands Online.” I think i will definitely learn something from here since i am just new in this kind of stuff. Thanks for sharing this one…
