We are only a few short days away from the biggest female mixed martial arts fight of all time between Gina Carano and Cyrborg Santos, both 145lb ladies with fight stopping power. In addition to being the biggest female mma event of all time the fight between Carano and Santos is the main event on the Strikeforce card.

I am pretty excited about this fight for the simple fact that I always enjoy seeing Gina Carano fight, all though I can’t say that I think this fight is going to be very enjoyable for Gina Carano fans this time around. Gina is a very technical mixed martial artist, Cyborg on the other hand is like a rabid bull on a crowded city street, she has blown through her opponents to date and unless Gina Carano can figure out a way to slow Cyborg Santos down she will be next.
As much as I hate to say it I really see Gina having a hard time with Cyrbog’s brutal attacks and power, she constantly kicks the crap out of her boyfriend who is also a mixed martial arts fighter. My predictions is for Cyborg Santos.
Renato “Babalu” Sobral (35-8) vs. Gegard Mousasi (25-2-1)
Light Heavyweight Championship Bout
Every time I see that this is a Light Heavyweight Championship match I laugh so hard my ribs make a cracking sound, since when is Babalu ready to be a light heavyweight champion? Anyway I will just consider this another mma match, my prediction is for Mousasi.
Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez (15-2) vs. Mitsuhiro Ishida (18-5-1)
Lightweight Interim Championship Bout
This should be a decent fight, not the most exciting in the world but decent. My prediction is for Melendez.

It was one of the more interesting fights I’ve seen. Gina fought well, and the final ending was slightly annoying, but I’ve never seen a fight end in such circumstances, so it made for good viewing.

Yes John, this is ground breaking to the world of MMA. Women fighter mainstreaming live on Showtime for a Main event. Not only is this stunning, this adds a new chapter in the world of MMA.
As for this main event… I perceive it as a beauty and the beast fight. I am not sure of how the outcome will go, but if Gina comes out like she did in her last bout, where she was barely conditioned, Santos might bull doze right through with no remorse for the brutality she might hand to Gina. Hell, like a lot of analysts are saying though, it wont matter if Gina gets brutally pounded or not, her modeling career is going to prosper and she will continue to be the face of women’s MMA. I think Gina is going to have a hard time too in this fight, and she is the underdog on the betting lines too! I think it will be a closer fight than most people are saying, but it’s still a great main event.
also interested to see Gegard Mousasi fight on this card and bonus as well im certain i read that Strikeforce are streaming it live on the internet for us Europeans:) can hook it up to my plasma:)

I agree with you, as much as i want Gina to win, i just dont see it happening. I haven’t followed the Cyborg much but i’ve seen enough of her fights on video websites to know that she is almost unstoppable.

Female mixed martial arts fight is a great sport. It’s exciting and I love it. Gina Carano and Cyrborg Santos, are both great fighters. There is something powerful about female martial art, bringing a different energy to the whole sport. Love your website man. Peace.
