Man, how I hated seeing those "Whammies" pop up unexpectedly. Just how I hate seeing self-promotional peeps pop up in my inbox or voicemail every day! Granted, everyone is self-promotional to a certain extent, but there's a fine line between actually trying to provide value to someone and spamming them left and right. 99% of them embody the latter. Bragging has its time and place, of course, but I agree that spewing your messages to an uninterested audience is a disaster waiting to happen. And some people will never get the point, I'm afraid.
