Community Coffee Cinnamon Roll Review

by Extreme John on September 3, 2009 |

Before you hit the back button on the Bing search engine results or dive out of your feed reader it’s important for you to realize that you are actually at the right place, this is really the Extreme John blog and I have not been taken over in any hostile way. I am actually writing a review about a fresh brew coffee product, and your going to thank me for it when it’s all said and done.

No, I am not trying to become the next big coffee blogger or even take over the really popular coffee blogs out there, instead I am showing my gratitude for a pretty sweet hook-up that Mike from Daily Shot of Coffee passed in my direction. Mike actually lives very close to where I live and we often get together for a few drinks and some beat downs during UFC events.

The last time Mike came by the house he must have been feeling guilty about something because he brought over this bag of coffee, as many of you might know especially those of you that follow me on Twitter, I have really stepped up my coffee drinking over the last couple of months. This is all of course Mike’s fault btw.

Community Coffee – Cinnamon Roll Medium Dark Roast Coffee

Now it’s important to keep in mind I am still very much a coffee drinking rookie at best and chances are I put way too much milk and sugar in my coffee to be considered a true hardcore coffee addict, I am also hardly the most talented coffee review writer on the planet, better yet let’s call me the least talented. If you are looking for true excellent coffee reviews written by the heavy duty coffee king chances are you should check out Mike’s “What I am Drinking” series, he has a rating system and everything.

Now that’s enough about Mike and his reviews, let’s talk a little bit about Community Coffee and the experience I had while trying their Cinnamon Roll coffee for the first time, keep in mind I won’t be using any special ratings system and I don’t get paid to do reviews here.

The first thing I will say is that I have no clue what medium-dark roast coffee is vs any other kind of coffee, what I can say is that Community Coffee’s Cinnamon Roll coffee made my entire house smell like I was standing in front of a Cinnabon in the food court at the mall, actually better. As much as I enjoy the smell of a fresh pot of coffee it’s hardly enough to make me rant and rave about it, however there is something that I experienced after drinking two cups of coffee from Community Coffee that I do want to rave about.

Drinking coffee for me is one of those love-hate relationships and it’s always something I have to do under great control or else I will pay the price for hours after I drink even one single cup of coffee. As much as I enjoy an excellent cup of coffee it doesn’t stop me from feeling like total crap after I have a cup, well that was the case until I tried the Community Coffee brand that Mike brought over.

Not only did I not have any brutal heart burn or stomach pains after drinking the Community Coffee brand, but being the kind of person I am I became almost possessed with trying to see how many cups of coffee it would take for me to end up feeling like complete crap. On a positive note I had back to back cups a few times and even tried to drink one cup realllllly slow over a few hour period to see if it would send me off in some death spiral, nope instead I ended up being out of Community Coffee which was devastating to say the least (I even tweeted about it).

I guess it’s safe to say that you will be seeing a few more Community Coffee reviews coming from me, they have some pretty wild flavors like “Carnivale Cake” and “Pecan Praline” that sound right up my alley, not to mention I want to know if the various Community Coffee products will spare me from the miserable feeling I became so use to experiencing every time I would drink any other coffee product.

Before I run out of here I want to say thanks again to Mike for being nice enough to share his extremely tasty coffee with me, and be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you will be giving Community Coffee a try or better yet if you have tried it in the past let everyone know what you thought. For those of you Twitter fiends you can follow Community Coffee @communitycoffee , Mike @shotofcoffee and of course you can follow me @extremejohn , have a perky day!

I’m glad you liked that coffee, I thought you might. Plus, I love the review, the good news is I don’t have to worry about you taking over my niche, but it does look like I have some competition.

@Mike, it’s great that you might consider me competition but thats not my game, well… Maybe ;)

I will call it a partnership instead.

I’ve been wanting to taste cinnamon coffee ever since I first heard about it on the Two And Half Men Show, where Charlie says to Allan that he’s morning coffee tastes “christmassy” – which turns out to be because of the cinnamon that Bertha puts in it…

I wish we had Community Coffee over here :)

@Klaus @ TechPatio, thanks to Mike I have been trying more and more coffee’s lately and of course all of them are flavored, I don’t do the regular stuff.

Funny! That’s exactly why I put some cinnamon in my coffee this morning! We just watched a rerun of Two and a Half Men and cinnamon coffee sounded so good!

I love Two And A Half Men, I think that show is pretty funny, I’ll have to keep an eye out for that episode.

@Mike, FYI – this is the episode: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0735162/

PS: Can you believe, Charlie Sheen turns 44 today… they do a great job with the makeup in the show, I’d say :)

@Mike, by far one of the most consistently funny TV shows and has been for years.

I never was a coffee drinker, and I don’t understand the difference of a good cup of coffee vs a bad one. My wife can take one sip and decide if it is good or bad. I don’t get how you can put three packs of sugar, some hazelnut flavored artificial creamer, and who knows what else to completely change the original taste of the coffee and call it good or bad. Sure, it smells like Christmas Eve at Grandma’s house, but no cookies or treats to go with it.

As a former bartender, I can help you with the transition from plain coffee to tasty in one simple step…Add Bailey’s and Frangelico to it and you have a nutty irishman! The real secret is topping it off with a nice layer of heavy whipped cream. That will get me to wake up early and even share a morning cup of joe.

On a different note, I would like to add a device that my wife bought after spending hundreds of dollars on different coffee makers that couldn’t brew a decent batch of coffee (I would suggest operator error, but she never listens to me in the first place). She got the Keurig single shot coffee maker, and it is awesome. You just fill the water container up, put the pod in and you are good to go. It makes hot chocolate for my son, hot tea for me, and coffee for the wife. Does Community Coffee come in pods? If so, I’m buying.

2 Things I have never done in my life…

1) Tasted Coffee
2) Smoke a Cigarette

Not sure why… well I know why I never started the smoking thing… but never tasting coffee is because I was never a fan of hot drinks growing up. I didn’t even like hot chocolate… but I would take one if my folks put enough marshmallows in it, but I would never finish the drink.

I know they make all sorts of flavored Ice Coffees nowadays, but I have made it this far in life without trying it, there is no reason to start now.

But I am sure your buddies coffee is awesome. Cinnamon Roll Coffee does sound tempting :)

@Doug Dillard, you really should give some of the flavored coffee’s a taste! I was never a big coffee drinker but the flavored stuff is good stuff.

@Extreme John, Now it’s just thing to tell my kids. They are 9 and 6 and I like that I can tell them I never smoked a cigarette or tasted coffee. Not sure if it will make any impact in their lives… but I still like that I can say it now :)

Maybe one day I will try some flavored coffee.

@Doug Dillard, I agree on the smoking thing, if they never see you do it they will have less of a chance of doing it.

Sounds like good stuff, I’m not too into flavored coffee as I prefer to be able to taste the original flavor. Being from Seattle were kinda coffee snobs here. I don’t buy the ridiculously priced stuff, my absolute favorite is Sumatra French Roast, talk about a bold coffee flavor. You can get like a 3 pound bag a Costco and it tastes as good or better than any of the big name brands.

@Jonathan, yeah I really wouldn’t say that I am anywhere near some of the heavy duty coffee drinkers out there.

We tasted Community Coffee while in New Orleans in the spring. It was the best coffee I have ever tasted. I am no big coffee drinker, so my vote really doesn’t count for much. But I know what I like.

However, one of our party went out of her way to buy a bag to bring back home. That spoke volumes to me.

When I drink coffee, I drink it black. I outgrew my taste for sugar in coffee years ago, and, if you read the ingredients on those creamers, you would never put that in your body again.

Black coffee is an acquired taste just like red wine.

I’m a coffee addict too but I do the same thing as you: lots of cream and sugar. I enjoy this type of mix because it keeps me more relaxed. By the way, that Cinnamon Roll Coffee sounds great. I really love the smell of Cinnabon. I think it is now time to make a difference in my coffee routine.
