Towards the end of the year I started posting our monthly recaps for Extreme Tan and Smoothies, a chain of six indoor tanning salons that my family owns and operates in Pinellas County Florida. I planned on doing a year end recap earlier in the month, but some recent salon software upgrades and issues delayed the 2009 recap. There is really no benefit to putting together a monthly or yearly recap for our tanning salon business, however because I am considered a blogging ceo I’m sure there are a few future tanning salon owners and small business owners that might be curious how 2009 fared vs 2008.

New Customers
Extreme Tan and Smoothies new customers increased by 42% with over 6500 new customers becoming part of the Extreme family.
Total Tanners
Over 180,000 indoor tanners tanned at Extreme Tan and Smoothies salons in 2009 which is an increase of 43% over 2008. Currently Extreme Tan and Smoothies has served over 700,000 indoor tanners.
Product Sales
Over 45,000 indoor tanning products were sold throughout Extreme Tan and Smoothies locations in 2009, which is an increase of 34% over 2008. The 34% increase in pieces sold produced a 59% increase in revenue generated by tanning products.
Total Gross Sales
Extreme Tan and Smoothies, Inc. as a company saw a 56% increase in total gross sales for 2009 vs 2008.
