Buffer Pin It April 2010 Tanning Salon Owner Recap

As some of my daily readers know I am a blogging CEO which basically means I am a business owner that also writes a blog, there are plenty of us out there and plenty of reasons that we choose to be blogging CEO’s. Extreme Tan and Smoothies, Inc. is one of the business’s that I founded and currently operate, Extreme consists of six indoor tanning locations and a Home Office that supports the stores daily and works as a distribution center.

At the close of each month I post a recap of statistics in a few of the various categories that I pay close attention to on a daily basis, it is important however to note that for obvious reasons the statistics posted below are limited to percentage based numbers and do not reflect all sales information for Extreme Tan and Smoothies, Inc.

Clearwater Tanning Salon

Clearwater Tanning Salon

Tans / Foot Traffic +/-

Foot traffic was down by an average of 13% company wide.

New Customers +/-

New customer were down by 15% for the month of April.

Total Store Sales +/-

Overall Extreme Tan and Smoothies had an increase of 12% in gross revenue company wide.

It looks like we need to get moving and increase foot traffic, as you can see based on the numbers above the overall company wide customer average is up which is a big factor in the gross revenue not being negative right along with foot traffic and new customer numbers. One of the other important factors to point out would be the fact that last year during the month of April 2009 we had a tremendous amount of radio advertising and somewhere in the area of twenty billboards. It is important to note that even without the advertising expense of 2009 we were able to increase overall gross sales, I guess there is something to be said for social networking and social media after all.

I would rather have seen the 35% increase we saw in March 2010 over March 2009, but I guess I can handle the 12% increase it is certainly better than a 12% decrease. :)

“One of the business’s”? May I ask how many businesses you have?

This just might be one of few blogs worth reading, just because of your business insight (that I assume you have).

Business is tough everywhere, so I’m glad you’re doing OK. I sometimes wonder how you do everything that you do: family, several businesses, blogging, etc. You’re the man!

@The Constant Complainer, yeah I wouldn’t go that far, it can easily be confused as the jack of all trades syndrome and master of none haha.

I was wondering, the information you publish here, it’s not something that your competitors can take advantage of? Or are you *the* tanning dude in Florida that everybody is looking up to, already? 8) .-= Klaus @ TechPatio´s last blog ..May 2010: Blog Summary & Income Report =-.

@Klaus @ TechPatio, I am hardly the tanning dude of Florida, there are way better tanning salon owners than me out there. However, I have an addiction and it’s business at all levels… I love competition, I welcome it and I honestly believe that we can deal with any competitive challenge that comes up.
