Florida frost pictures continue to pop up online along with the complaints about how cold it is here in Florida, with the cries of hating the cold and Florida snow (pictures) also come the pleas for warmer weather. Lately I have been fortunate to come in contact with local bloggers in the Tampa area and it’s been pretty cool getting in to a local network, one of the local bloggers (I haven’t actually met in person yet) Danny in Tampa @dannyintampa on twitter actually sparked this post, he recently wrote a post titled, “Florida Cold Spell – Bring Back the Heat“.
After reading Danny’s post on The Blog About Everything I couldn’t help but take a minute to write about the other side of things, perhaps the evil side… muuuhahahaha
Florida Snow… Florida Cold.. Oh no!
Here’s the thing, I hate the heat and I moved to sunny Florida. I know the obvious, BUT with that being said I put up with 10 months of straight 90 degree temps then finally got a little relief when we had the 11 day cold snap a couple of weeks ago. In addition to being cold for 11 days it actually snowed in Florida there were all kinds of frost damage pictures and pictures of snow falling in Florida to mark the event.
Once that cold snap ended the temps returned to the 70′s which is not too bad at all, I can take the 70 degree temps until some time in July if someone wants me too. However being a small business owner in this area I understand the importance of having a good long cold season, it brings tourists that don’t mind the super cold 45 degree temps… haha I’m from New York, so 45 isn’t all that cold to me.
Anyway, don’t get me wrong I know there are local spots that thrive off of the spring break crowd, hey I am even one of those business owners too, but the sad reality is that with as long as summer has been here and owning Extreme Tan and Smoothies (an indoor tanning salon chain) it wouldn’t upset me too much if we had six more weeks of winter. Of course my views are one sided, it could stay cold in Florida or specifically Pinellas County 
haha all year round and I would smile every second of the way.
I don’t really put too much thought in to personal things, just about everything I surround my life with and my thoughts with is in regards to business and with aggressive marketing campaigns like Tan for Cash and a few other ad campaigns going on I wouldn’t mind maximizing our tanning season. The weather here in Florida or specifically the Tampa Bay area can close the door on an indoor tanning season very quickly, let’s not rush things summer will be here before we know it.

I have to say that i really dont feel bad for the people of florida because you get the heat 90% of the time. The people i feel bad for are all of the people (like 2 of my neighbors) that are going down there this week for vacation because their kids are on mid winter break. I hope they packed some warm clothes.

Here ya go John http://tweetphoto.com/11620311 I took that pic this evening when I went to go out my front door, that railing is 42″ and the snow is about 18″ from the top of it. It is still snowing and from what they are saying, the snow may reach the top of that railing by Thursday…
