Foursquare, Foursquare, what have you done?
Staying home use to be so much fun.
Now I Foursquare when I’m on the run.
Telling everyone where I’m at, it’s really dumb.
From the Foursquare newbie to the Mayor..
The worst light ever slayer…
O.k. that’s about all your going to get for weird rhymes or any form of poetry around here. One of the funny things about the few lines above is that they are all true, Foursquare is fun, it can also be addicting and if your not careful with it chances are your being really dumb with it.
Now on a side note and from a small business owner perspective, Foursquare is awesome and certainly another tool that ranks just as high if not higher than Twitter. We have been stepping up the contests and giveaways on all of our business social networking profiles, like Twitter @etasflorida, Facebook and My Space to name a few. Now I intend to put Foursquare to use and reward our consistent customers or location Mayors for keeping Extreme on the Foursquare map.
About Foursquare
If you subscribe to my rss feed or connect with me via my Facebook Fan Page you know I like to keep my “About” segments short and sweet. Foursquare is a cell phone app that allows you to “check-in” to your favorite business’s, based on the settings you customize the places you “check-in” to can be shared with your friends on Twitter and Facebook. The more you check-in to places the better your chances of becoming Mayor of that business are.
Based on various tasks that you complete you earn badges and points, you know… braggin rights.

Just like every single one of the other 800 billion social networking sites out there Foursquare also offers a Foursquare Friends section where you can show off all of the good lookin’ people that stalk you on Foursquare. O.k, enough of the foreplay the bottom line is that Foursquare also makes connecting with others in your area a snatch, if your a social media or social networking junkie you’ll like Foursquare.

Foursquare makes it simple to manage your friend requests and keep your stalkers to a limited area, I only accept Foursquare friend requests and connections within my local area. When it comes to Twitter @extremejohn and my Facebook Fan Page it doesn’t really matter what area someone is located, with Foursquare being location based I like keeping it clean and local.

That’s about enough of the Foursquare talk for today, if you don’t already have the Foursquare app for Motorola Droid or the Foursquare app for Blackberry or iPhone go pick it up from your app store real quick. Great post! Foursquare is providing an entirely new outlet for businesses to interact and reach their customers and I am excited to see how creative they get with Foursquare and like applications. The possibilities are endless!

Prior to losing my iPhone, I had used it quite a bit..I love the way it post to your Twitter and Facebook…automation is awesome.

Funny that I saw this article about FourSquare in my RSS feed this morning, I wrote a post last night about my experience with FourSquare and have it queued for tomorrow on my personal blog. I do think it is very good at helping promote local businesses and broadcasting where you are at, but it isn’t overly good to communicate with others with.
