Hit While Pumping Gas

by Extreme John on October 6, 2009 |

Before leaving for my trip to Chicago I had like 9,000 things I needed to get done, and just like anytime you’re pressed for time and running around town the gas light comes on in your car, adding in yet one more stop.

Needless to say while I was pumping gas at one of the local Shell gas stations some mega redneck decided to pull away from the building without checking to see if there might actually be a car next to him pumping gas. I guess it’s lucky for this idiot that there wasn’t a mother walking between the two cars with her kids or something along those lines, because he certainly would have pinned them between both cars.

I could probably go into just how much of an idiot this guy was and do it in some great detail, but telling all of you that he handed me his registration when I asked him for his insurance pretty much sums it up. The bottom line is that they call these things accidents for a reason  and this was one of those scenarios, it was an accident I am just happy that no one ended up getting hurt.

I hope everyone has a great day and remember look before you start driving, you would be surprised what might be around you.

That’s right, Extreme John. Material possessions can be repaired, but if he would have hit a person, things would be have been more complicated. It’s just not necessary to drive like an idiot. I’m glad to hear that nobody got hurt. Hopefully, his insurance rates will teach him a lesson out of this.

Awesome ride. Anyway, John, it is good that nothing more serious happened. Albeit, it was just material damage. nevertheless, it is always good to remind us drivers to look around first before making any “maneuvers”. Bon Voyage to Chicago.

Nice car and not too much damage. I remember an illegally parked car once backing out of a gas station and hitting my car while it was parked next to a pump. When I came out of the store the guy was gone.

I don’t understand how anyone can not look around when their vehicle is in motion.. having a lisence to drive is pretty much equivilent to having a license to kill.. people should take that responsibility more seriously

I got sideswiped on the freeway in my car. Not my fault. Sent the car to the panel shop to fix the scrapes and the dented left hand door. 2 weeks without the car. Two days after picking it up, I fill up my car in the gas station. I go to pay and some kid backs straight into the door that just got fixed, except this time it was twice as bad. :-?

I reckon that a lot of these accidents occur because people just aren’t paying attention to what is going on around them. That or they think they’re the only ones around so they can do what they want.

Just look on the bright side John, at least it wasn’t the Ferrari.

I can imagine your mood after that awful incident happened, but you’re absolutely right: it’s a great thing no one was hurt. Even low-speed collisions can be a disaster, and I was just reading about that Toyota floor mat accident, where the floor mats prevented the accelerator from working properly and resulted in 4 people being killed. One of the commentators where I was reading about that said, “it’s hard to believe that getting in a car is an inherently dangerous activity, but yeah, that’s really the whole “lesson” in all of this.”
