Here we go with another post from my 1000 post series, basically I am responding to each request and suggestion that some of my readers made when I asked what my 1000th post should be about. Nice Blogger suggested that my 1000th post be about How I Started Blogging, here goes another post and thanks for the great idea Nice Blogger.
Here’s the story about how the Extreme John.com blog came to be…
In a previous life I owned and operated two very successful affiliate marketing programs, somewhere along the way blogs became the big craze for affiliates to make money online with my affiliate programs. Somewhere along the way I ended up meeting up with a guy named ShagE while in Hollywood for an Internext convention. I can’t really say I know at exactly which point that the decision was made to change Extreme John.com from a basic HTML website to a WordPress Blog format.
Even though I don’t remember the exact point that the change was made I do know that the change was made because ShagE and Mike (Msacras) convinced me that updating my page would be easier with a blog format, wow were they right. I can’t even imagine designing a basic HTML website again, it’s almost like the thought of going back to a PC from a MAC.. I just can’t picture it, blogs kick ass especially if you use it to do something you enjoy.
I wanted to keep this one short since I plan on writing a few more 1000 post suggestion posts before the night is up, on a side note I am pretty excited about the fact that it’s Sunday March 28, 2010 and I am writing this post for an April 3rd release. That’s with having multiple updates each day… I love when I’m in the groove.

What happened to your 2 successful affiliate programs? Are they still on?
Well Wordpress really made it easy for everyone to update their site or blog. I know some websites are in wordpress form and making “webmaster” almost obsolete.

I started to build links to my site and get my name out there. Now I have a lot of fun with it. Rants are usually my favorite to write since I feel a lot better after writing something. I hear you on the PC and Mac thing too. I have a Mac and PC and the Mac is waaaay better.

So Extreme John goes back as an affiliate site? A bit confusing.
In any case WordPress rocks but the constant updates and new versions of it are annoying.
I have a Mac too and PC is lame in comparison. I hope that those applications-software that are now available only for PC will be available for Mac too.
That would eliminate the need for having a PC for me altogether.

I was talking to a potential client the other day and he wanted to do just basic HTML, thought Wordpress would be too much work. I can’t even imagine making a non-Wordpress based site. It can be used for so much more than just making blogs.
On a side note, that feels just like yesterday.
