Josh Barnett PLEASE KO Fedor Emelianenko

by Extreme John on June 10, 2009 |

There, I said it. I want Josh Barnett to destroy the guy that everyone calls “The Last Emperor”, Fedor Emelianenko. There’s no doubt in my mind that all of the Fedor Emelianenko worshipers will be pissed at the very thought that I want to see Fedor get owned like an inmates chick upon release from prison.

I am hardly the Mr. Know it All of the mixed martial arts scene, nor am I some professional sports guru. Instead I am that guy that just can’t stand Fedor one bit, I haven’t see all of Fedor’s fights nor do I have any desire to. I have seen Fedor fight two times and thats more than enough for me, I watched him throw an armbar on this giant guy and watched him get bitch slapped around the ring by Andre Arlovski, that was of course until Arlovski made a bad decision and was rendered unconcious for it.

Fedor Emelianenko does not excite me, I am much like Dana White who feels that until Fedor fights top competitors in the UFC he is nothing more than over rated. I know bitch all you want I said that too, Fedor is over rated or at least is over rated based on the fights I have seen along with some of Fedor’s You Tube Videos. I want to see Fedor fight someone that matters NOW, not someone that mattered for a quick minute sometime in the way back.

Fedor Getting Rocked

Fedor Getting Rocked

On August 1, 2009 at the Honda Center in Anaheim California, Affliction Trilogy: Josh Barnett vs Fedor Emelianenko will go down and I will be one of the very few people screaming for Josh Barnett to actually fight Fedor. Not really asking very much, just want to see someone actually fight Fedor, hit him and keep him running like Arlovski did before he attempted the flying knee. Josh Barnett certainly has the tools and experience to stay level headed and make this a fight, he also has the tools to finish Fedor in a few different ways. He needs to use the tools.

Who will win Josh Barnett or Fedor?

Affliction Trilogy Fight Card
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett
Andrei Arlovski vs. TBA
Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. Gegard Mousasi
Chris Horodecki vs. Dan Lauzon
Vitor Belfort vs. Jorge Santiago
Paul Buentello vs. Tim Sylvia
Paul Daley vs. Jay Hieron
Ben Rothwell vs. TBA

I also think it’s important for Josh Barnett to respect Fedor and what he has done, but don’t fall into the hype that he is the badest man on the planet, so many fighters beat themselves before they even get in the ring. Don’t get me wrong I understand that Fedor’s amazing record screams greatness, I think it’s important to look at the fighters on his list of victories, sure there’s some nice wins in there but there’s also plenty of fluff.

Affliction Trilogy Press Conference with Fedor

My entire point here is that Im beyond over hearing how much of a Bill bad ass Fedor is, while he sits back and has fights against opponents that Tim Sylvia could have battled. Fedor is not indestructable or unbeatable, in my opinion if he was fighting talent in the UFC you would have seen Fedor lose numerous fights already. I’m not sure that Josh “The Baby Faced Assasin” Barnett will be the guy to deliver some reality to Fedor and a lot of other people as well, all I can say is that I sure as hell hope so. It can end with a brutal KO or maybe an arm crushing armbar, either way I couldn’t care less as long as it’s Barnett’s hand being raised at the end of the fight.

I will be posting my Affliction Trilogy Predictions sometime soon, check out MMA Punk.com for Barnett vs Fedor predictions and live results.

I agree with what you are saying but you better watch yourself some hardcore Fador lover will be after you! I will say that Fador has some loyal fans. You say one thing bad about him and they are ready to fight! One more thing doesn’t Affliction have more fighters. The same guys were on the last card. I’m tired of watching Arlovski getting beat up and who wants to see Tim Sylvia fight.

@James Yeah where the whole Tim Sylvia thing comes in is beyond me, hasn’t everyone knocked him out? He’s fighting a 900 year old retired boxer next, imagine he loses that one. As for the Fedor fans, I know that there’s a huge fan base out there and I understand why. The guy has won a billion championships through the years, he has accomplished a lot, I have already had a few Fedor fans contact me on Twitter, in the same fashion that they can love the guy… I can wanna see him get knocked out.

Bottom line for me is that I will never consider “WAMMA” to be anything more than some strange thing he says he wants to do to some chick he see’s at a bar, drunk. There is a huge credibility to Fedor and his accomplishments in PRIDE and some of his other Championships as well, however in this day and age and at this current point in time… The best fighters are in the UFC, if Fedor is such a bad ass I want to see him kick the shit out of those fighters, not out of some hyped up Tim Sylvia or hyped up Andre Arlovski, again keep in mind Arlovski was slapping Fedor around in their fight. Sorry, hardly impressed. The Fedor fans can appreciate my view in the same fashion I appreciate theirs.

I have to admit I am and have been a serious Fedor Emelianenko fan for years in the same way I was once for Mike Tyson & Roy Jones Jr & Marvin Hagler. He is an amazing fighter and so well rounded and really I cannot see anyone better then him at the moment (I am in good company with people like GSP and Couture in agreement).

As for being “bitch slapped around the ring by Andre Arlovsk” I just went back and watched the video – he did look unsettled in his ring position but I did not see any major blows landed, until of course Arlovsk got well and truly bitch smacked and put down lick sack of potatoes.

And for getting rocked – that was Kazuyuki Fujita and really that showed some amazing chin considering he then switched the fight and tapped him out with Rear Naked Choke submission.

Also Randleman Suplexed Emelianenko and looked like he had broke his neck, but he recovered and tapped him out in a Kimura. So thats thing with this guy, his stand up is fast and strong, his ground work incredible and he has a chin and amazing heart to come back.

So yeah considering what you say I still stand by my belief he is the best. As for the UFC I think the person to really challenge him will be Cheick Kongo as opposed to their current champion with an Amazing 2 wins 1 loss record.

@Luke Ahhh the days of Tyson and Hagler, I am still the guy that wants to see Tyson throw just one more KO punch, just one. It was art. I didn’t jump on the Roy Jones JR bandwagon until later in life because his cockiness drove me insane, now I love it and love the fact he’s still fighting at his age and doing well.

I watched the Randleman video it was a nasty suplex no doubt, and all though an extremely exciting move with explosion and excellent sound effects, unless he rendered Fedor unconscious I can’t see anyone’s back being broken by a suplex and losing a fight because of it, good explosives.. Not a show stopper.

In regards to Fedor being hurt by Kazuyki and coming back, without a doubt it shows excellent chin and heart. The picture was used in this post more for effect than anything, and to highlight the fact that Fedor is hardly invincible.

Hey I have no problem taking a step back on the current UFC champion with his incredible record of 2-1, Im no huge Brock Lesner fan, as a matter of fact I wouldn’t mind seeing Mir beat him again, it would be hysterical. Kongo is a bad ass but we will see what he has against Cain Velasquez, depends which Kongo shows up to the fight that night.

I can’t blame you for standing by him Luke, I wouldn’t expect anything less. On August 2nd we can revisit the Fedor vs Barnett fight and see what the outcome is, like I said in my post Im not sure that I believe that Barnett is the guy that will beat Fedor, I just think he has better total skills than Arlovski and Sylvia put together. Thank you for taking the time to comment Luke, Im hardly against learning facts about Fedor that might make me see a different position on the guy. I just had someone write me last night on Twitter that was responding to my article and the guy had a great point, “It’s the promoters that are making you hate Fedor, not Fedor making you hate Fedor”. Thats a very solid point and right on the money, in addition to the fact that I can’t rate the guy based on the two sleeper fights that I saw him in.

Some good points John and to sing from the same book this fight really will be the proofer Fedor need’s (outside of the UFC). I have to agree Tim Sylvia was no real competition in fact he looked way out of shape and quite porky and Arlovski showed bad judgment and composure.

Hey,do kick another post after the fight! I have started following you on twitter so will keep an eye out.

So what do reckon to Mir and Lesnar and more importantly the winner of Cain Velasquez vs Cheick Kongo taking on Lesnar or Mir?

Me I would love to see Cheick kicking tens tons of gas out of Brock Lenar…whenever I see Brock I expect him to pull out a broad sword and shout “By the power of greyskull!”

This fight is going to be strange becuse Barnett and Fedor are very good friends, and you could see this when they were joking around at the Strikeforce event last weekend, so this is definately going to have an effect on the fight. Affliction have done everything they could to delay this matchup throwing Slyvia and Arlovski in the ring before Barnett but they have no other legitimate fighters left.

I still don’t see Barnett winning this fight though, Fedor is too fast on the ground for Barnett and while Barnett has been in deep water before i think Fedor will win a decision or a TKO, Barnett has never been submitted so its probably not going to happen now, and Fedor has never been beaten, i don’t see it happening this time either!

Its well worth checking out some Fedor highlight videos in my opinion it might just change your mind about his skills and why many people consider him the best, he has some seriously fast ground skills and crazy balance for a big guy:)

Listen in the same fashion I could give two shits if you wanna cup Fedor’s sack or not, you should probably not get so bent out of shape by the fact that I want to see the guy fight in the UFC, or at least fight someone with better skills than Andrea “Sweet Chin” Arlovski and no I don’t want to reference some fight he had 5 years ago either. Your right, I am a hater. I hate seeing all the suck ass for the guy when he hasn’t fought anyone decent in recent times, and instead of getting so bent over MY OPINION of Fedor take a second and post a link to a Fedor video in recent times that displays his skills. Prove the point, make me change my mind.

P.s Thank you for commenting.

Why is Fedor even taking this fight? I think that Dana should just throw a ridiculous amount of money at Fedor and have him fight Brock Lesnar. Seriously, who wants to see Josh Barnett get pounded by this guy? I compare this upcoming bout to some of the fights Anderson Silva has been been involved in recently as in you see or hear about the opponent and you just wonder “WTF?”.

@Download I agree why bother playing games with Barnett the UFC should chuck money at him, or better yet maybe his overly protective managers will step up to the table so the world can see if Fedor is as good as every wants to believe he is, that is with the exception of me who thinks even Barnett can beat Fedor.

IMHO there is no real need to talk shit on any fighter. Everything can happen in MMA’s fight and it usually does. But I’ve never seen more complete fighter than Fedor. He’s real machine. It does not matter for him to play in stand up or on a ground. FYI he is Russian experiment and supported directly by the President Putin (now Prime Minister) and the Government.
He might be smaller than many guys in MMA, but he naturally has much more power and will. He never gives up, that’s what makes him nearly unbeatable.
Anyway, good luck to both Josh and Fedor. All MMA community just wants to see beautiful fight on August 1.

Dude, I used to be a hater… until I saw more than two Fedor matches. Make your decision after seeing a few more of his matches, particularly VS Nogueira fights. That and the Goodridge fight, Kevin Randleman fight, Coleman fight, Matt Lindland fight… if that doesn’t make you at least admire how skilled and smart he is in fights, I don’t know what will.
