Before I kick off my series of pictures from our little vacation to Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago I figured it would only be fitting to open things up with exactly how our Vegas trip got started. You know… set the tone.
We kept the trip a secret from the kids up until the night my son landed back here in Florida from spending the summer in New York with “X”. Once I returned home from the Tampa International Airport it was around 9pm, we had to let the surprise out of the bag pretty quick because our flight was scheduled to take off around 6am. As the kids get older the surprises seem to be a lot less “surprising”, well with the exception of the youngest one who still manages to muster up a pretty good “I’m Surprised!”
After we scooped up our connecting flight in Texas via Continental Airlines we were headed off to Vegas. As much as I hate flying I have to give props to Continental Airlines, the experience was great and certainly far better then any Southwest Airlines flight I’ve ever taken.
Once we landed in Vegas we got checked into the Rio Hotel and Casino and headed out for the typical Las Vegas site seeing mission that’s a must anytime you go to Vegas. First stop on the list was the mall at Caesars Palace, that place always seems to blow me away even if my main enjoyment out of it comes from stopping at all of the little bars along the way.
Within two hours of landing in Las Vegas we managed to get checked in to the Rio Hotel and walk the entire mall at Caesars Palace, we were heading outside to cross over and visit The Mirage Hotel and Casino. The kids were pretty excited about checking out the Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden and the Dolphin Exhibit and with it being located right next to Caesars we figured it would be a quick thing to knock off “the list”.
As we headed over to The Mirage via the sidewalk I decided I really wanted to take a picture of the family in front of the massive Caesars Palace sign. I grabbed the camera and got into position when I realized that the sign was so massive I would almost have to be in some weird limo position in order to get everyone in the picture along with the sign. I assumed said position and as I leaned further and further back I heard three pops… pop, pop, pop. That would be the sound of my previously injured ankle giving way.
Rumor has it that I still managed to get the picture, if I can find it I will post it. In the meantime here’s a picture that explains how the rest of that day went.

Special thanks to University Medical Center (UMC) for soaking up a solid 5 hours of my life and making sure there was no potential for disease by having the temperature set at -25. There is nothing like that feeling of “defrosting” that we so often forget about when we aren’t being frozen alive.
Special thanks to Lisa for rolling me around Las Vegas the following day when it was easily 108 outside. Special thanks to the pharmacy for making it so I could hobble around and enjoy the rest of my vacation.
More picture to come along with a Rio Hotel & Casino Review, Blue Man Group Review, Samba Brazilian Steakhouse Review and of course a ton of pictures. If you don’t currently subscribe to my rss feed or connect with me via my Facebook fan page now might be a good time.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Ouch! Hopefully that didn’t ruin the vacation fun with the kids.
I can relate fully well about kids being more difficult to surprise as they get older. My 11 year old is getting harder to convince to come with us in our little trips to the mall or the park. He’d rather stay in front of the computer or be with his friends.
Hey, be looking forward to see more pics.
Glad to see a big smile on your face during all the hospital fun.
Can’t wait to see the pics.

Ouchie! I hope you did more stuff in Vegas after that! We were there with the kids last year, and I confess, it’s not my favorite place in the US… Too much noise and neon lights, we cut our stay there short and moved on to Sequoia National Park which we LOVED.

It all sounds like a lot of fun except for the hospital part. It’s been such a long time since I had a vacation. I would love to take my kids to a place where we can actually be around nature and not worry about the danger. anyways great to see you had a fun time with the kids.
All the best,
Eren

Dude, ouch, those ankle injuries just never go away, do they. Glad you’re back up and about though. Vegas is so much fun. I could go there every year. I look forward to hearing more stories and seeing some more pictures. I’m a total people-watcher as you know, so Vegas is my town. And playing some craps isn’t terrible either. Haha!

Yeah this ankle injury looks like it will be with me forever, good times. Once I finish answering comments I plan on getting a few more pictures up.
