My $3000 Twitter Giveaway Review

Some of you might not have any idea exactly what Twitter is and this post probably isn’t going to do too much to help you with all of the fine details, but in short Twitter is a micro-blogging social media and social networking site that allows you to post 140 character status updates. You can follow others on Twitter and others can follow you as well, when you follow someone you have the option of receiving their “tweets” or status updates right on your cell, pretty convenient and addictive.

Now that you have a better idea of what Twitter is about I wanted to share something fun that I recently got to do on Twitter, because as any Twitter user will tell you it can certainly be used for more than just tweeting status updates or micro-blogging.

Thanks to my good friend and outdoor billboard marketing legend Mike Barbaro I had the pleasure of attending Sunday’s football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets, the Jets crushed Tampa btw and being a huge Jets fan that made me smile inside and out. Early Sunday morning before Lisa and I left for the game I decided that I wanted to give away a free limousine ride and use Twitter and/or Facebook to do it, you know have some fun with it.

Once I decided to do the Twitter giveaway I sent a quick tweet to the tweeps that follow me on twitter @extremejohn that way tweople (people in twitter world) would know about the contest and hopefully spread the word.

Within seconds one of my twitter followers @Srowl retweeted my message, and before I knew it there were plenty of people standing by and waiting for my next tweet about the contest.

Twitter Giveaway Winners at Raymond James Stadium

The lucky Twitter winner to win a 4 hour free limousine ride from Insane Limos was @Clarencehill on Twitter who was the 17th person to retweet the winning post on Twitter. I wish I could take the time to list every single Twitter follower that won a $100 gift card from Insane Limos but it would honestly take too much time diving through the retweets, thank you everyone and congrats!

I plan on doing more Twitter style giveaways in the future, instead of waiting until the last minute like I did with this limousine giveaway I will probably allow for a little more notice so more people can get involved. I had a great time doing the contest and I would recommend trying Twitter contests to any business looking to offer some hook-ups online and generate some buzz.
