I’m going to make an attempt at taking a break from the Michael Jackson news coverage, I have been glued to it since I made my R.I.P Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett post. The news coverage from NBC, CNN and of course TMZ has been non stop, with TMZ dominating with constant pictures and breaking news.
Ok so far I haven’t done a great job of getting to the second part of my CommentLuv Project, I better get focused. As I mentioned in my initial CommentLuv article, my goal was to visit five different sites that use CommentLuv and leave a comment. I wanted to see if this would effect my traffic but more importantly I wanted to see the types of sites offered in the CommentLuv active sites list and see how my articles would fit in with the articles I commented on.
I was also curious just how much “CommentLuv” other bloggers using the CommentLuv plugin would really show, having the plugin is one thing, committing to sharing CommentLuv is an entirely different story. There are many types of bloggers out there and when it comes to networking and sharing some luv between sites you come across plenty of blog owners that don’t comment back or retweet messages, than there are another ten percent that do a great job of commenting back, like this blogger.
One thing you will need if you plan on starting your own blog or you have just started a new blog is patience, realize that not every blog you visit and comment on will do it back. It’s also important to realize that leaving comments and having other bloggers not reciprocate is something you will need to do to grow your blog at any decent level. So in addition to adding the CommentLuv plugin be ready to do work and leave comments on other blogs and create some friendships along the way, that is by far the best part of the entire networking process. With that said let me get to the results from my previous two days of my CommentLuv project.

All though I left a comment on this site, CommentLuv never connected in order to show the drop down list of my articles in order for me to select the comment I would like displayed best. My comment must have been placed in moderation, so I was unable to tell if CommentLuv selected a random article or any of my articles in the comment I left.

By this point it seems that CommentLuv may be having some connectivity issues as this is the second blog in a row that I visited and left a comment on, however none of my articles displayed in order for me to select them. Unlike my previous experience I was able to see my comment after I submitted, however CommentLuv did not display in my comment. This would be an issue for CommentLuv to resolve. I like the topics of this blog and I like the interactivity, so I know I will have no problem visiting and leaving more comments in the future.

To close out another round of my CommentLuv Project it’s safe to say that there are issues tonight with having your articles displayed on the blogs you comment on. I still commented at Hicham’s because I like his topics, again showing that CommentLuv serves many purposes and can help with growing your blog or at the very least your knowledge of the web.

CommentLuv Issues Seen
- CommentLuv to Non CommentLuv sites
While crusing through some of my blog comments here on Extreme John.com I came across a comment from Mike at Daily Shot of Coffee in my R.I.P Michael Jackson article. In Mike’s comment it showed a commentluv link to Mike’s last blog post, when I asked Mike about him using CommentLuv he pointed out that he never even registered for CommentLuv. It’s kind of crazy that his last blog post would be shown, and upon visiting Mike’s blog it was clear the CommentLuv plugin was not installed.
- CommentLuv Image
I have been to a few CommentLuv sites recently that dislplayed the CommentLuv image in the commenting area which is the proper location for it, however when clicking in the text area to type your comment the CommentLuv plugin seems to not connect to offer any link selection.
CommentLuv and Blogging Tips
- Comment, Comment, Comment
I really can not stress enough how important it is to leave comments on other blogs if your looking to increase everything from your traffic to your RSS Subscribers.
- Reciprocate
If another blogger takes the time to leave a comment or a few comments on your blog you should at the very least visit the commentator’s blog, or better yet read through a few articles and leave a comment. If you use the CommentLuv plugin and your not leaving comments your missing out, if you have a blog but do not utilize CommentLuv there are still major benefits to leaving comments.
- Do the Entire Job
Having an active blog with active commenters means doing numerous tasks, from updating your wordpress plugins to reviewing your comments. There are excellent spam tools out there that aid in blocking spam to your blog, however good comments left by new subscribers, or existing readers can end up in the spam folder. Go through your spam folder in your wordpress admin daily, as you may be missing out on excellent SEO benefits from quality comments left by others. Simply deleting the spam items without reviewing them is a common mistake, it can cost you networking relationships as well as quality linkbacks. A perfect example of that would be me, I have four “xxxx” in my email address which is a google email address, my comments end up in my own blogs spam folder why wouldn’t they end up there on the blogs I comment on.
- Reply
People leave comments in order to interact with you or leave feedback in regards to the article that you posted, reply to your commenters as it keeps discussions open and flowing. No one likes to talk to themselves, well sometimes I do but i’m different.
Since posting my initial CommentLuv Project article a few of the blogs that I visited and left comments on have been nice enough to come back to Extreme John and leave comments, proving some instant results from using CommentLuv.
In closing I have reached a point where there are no longer sites in the active sites list that I can visit and comment on for the first time, that are of interest to me at least. I have now moved on to other CommentLuv blogs that I visited the first time around and have started to look through their comments at the CommentLuv links to see if I can find sites that I would enjoy reading.
If you have a blog and use CommentLuv please leave a comment with a link to your site, and it can be featured in my finaly CommentLuv project article.

It’s great to see your project progressing!
fyi.. you don’t need to have commentluv installed on your blog to receive luv on other blogs that have it, as long as you have a valid feed at your site url then commentluv will fetch the latest post to display it below the comment.
Andy Bailey´s last blog ..How are you going to make money with your ComLuv blog?
@Andy oh really? So as long as it can pick up an active feed from your site even though you never registered or anything like that it will still give you CommentLuv features? Thats pretty wild, not sure exactly how I feel about that just yet. Thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. I def appreciate the additional information about CommentLuv.
I’ve heard a lot about commentluv and I’m searching around for reasons why I should joint bandwagon of commentluv users.
Where can I read the basics of what commentluv can do and its advantages?
james moralde´s last blog ..Meet The Bandit
John, thanks for stopping by my blog.
The project is doing fine yet I noticed something; I logged into the site (commentluv) and checked the stats. Under “Luv you gave” tab, the stats didn’t count anything since 2006-06-10 even if comments are found from dear readers and visitors. It’s woking fine for “Luv you received”. I thought to share this with you.
On the other hand, I think that linking people is great via this plugin, however it need quite effort to check the ‘Spam Folder’ because sometime it catch good people there.
Hicham´s last blog ..To Tweet or not to Tweet?
@Hicham I am glad you pointed that out, I realized yesterday that Andy from CommentLuv visits my site and has commented, he pays attention so hopefully he will see the point you brought up in regards to the stat area of CommentLuv. I wonder if it had to do with the recent CommentLuv update.
As for the spam folder there’s no question you need to look through your spam comments, I think thats a best practice regardless if your using CommentLuv or not because from time to time you will get some excellent comments in the spam section. It’s the additional link in the comment that causes some comment luv commentators to end up in the spam folder.
Thank you for stopping by I appreciate it, yet proving that CommentLuv works.
Yeah, Using commentluv, we can increase the trafic to our blog a lot, I think it’s one of the best for increasing the traffic. Thanks.
Thanks for the shout out…much appreciated! I love this series as I find some great new blogs to follow…please continue with this.

I think that comment luv is a great way for back links and a very generous plugin for commentators.
I hope that people respect the site and don’t blanket them with spam. Otherwise, they’ll all switch to no follow.
I like your methodology on this commentluv project. I’ll be staying tuned to ExtremeJohn!
