I won’t take much of your time with this post about the new Twitter and new custom Twitter background I am currently using. Initially this post was only going to be about my custom twitter background, that was until twitter hooked me up with a little peak at the new version of Twitter. Really nothing major there, Twitter has been slowly testing and releasing it’s latest version slowly, certainly gauging feedback along the way.
Anyway, here’s a screen shot peak at the new Twitter with my branded Twitter background in the mix. I thought for sure that I would be forced to ask Dawn to change up the new version he just made once Twitter released the new version, by the looks of things I got lucky and everything seems to fit OK.

About the New Twitter Design
As you can see by the screen shot above everything pretty much displays in the first fold of the page which keeps everything nice and tight. I also like the tabbed view for the Timeline, @mentions, Retweets, Searches and Lists… very hand if you ask me and it keeps navigating between things simple. I also like the entire right column setup, it starts out displaying you’re last tweet then rolls into who you’re following and who’s following you.
I really like the “Who to Follow” addition to the right sidebar, thanks to that little bad boy I found at least 5 new connections in the last few days. It seems to serve up some really relevant recommendations.
Overall I would have to say the new Twitter crushes the previous Twitter version, however it still lacks any real tools for small business owners which is a tremendous fail on Twitter’s part as far as I’m concerned.

Hi John, I’m seeing the new twitter on one of my accounts but not the main one. It’s pretty cool but I don’t have any plans to change my Twitter background yet, like you mine still fits.
I like the look of the new interface but I spend most of my Twitter time on HootSuite. Thanks for the review.

I too rely on HootSuite as my main Twitter client, all though I do find myself visiting my Twitter profile more often because the layout is easier for me to do some quick work in and get out.

I don’t actually go to Twitter much since I use apps (just did a review of a new one I am using) but I think it is more user friendly to non app users for sure!

The new twitter is really awesome but it was having some small bugs and was a little slow, so shifted back to old twitter few days back.
I am looking for more features like Chat, which is kind of impossible considering that almost every tweeple has so many followers which could cause twitter servers to go down. But still there could be some workaround for it…
