No more Cadillac for me

Just recently I we bought a regular commercial van in order to carry more stuff around for the tanning salons which is going to be important with our current growth spree. If we are going to double our salon count within a couple of months we are going to need to make sure we have all of the tools we need in place to service those locations. Prior to getting the old school white van we primarily used the Ford Expedition and than after that the Cadillac Escalade EXT, which is a very comfortable ride but it can be a pain in the ass when it comes to storing stuff.

We purchased the Cadillac Escalade from Dimmitt Cadillac on US19 in Clearwater Florida it’s a 2004 model and we purchased it new. It has around 37,000 miles on it. We haven’t used it for the last month or so it’s been sitting in front of the office, it had a check engine light go on a couple of weeks ago but because we hadn’t used it we were in no hurry to get it into the Dimmitt Service department. Earlier this week I made an appointment to have it dropped off and looked at, nothing much seemed wrong besides the check engine light.

Nate and Spunky were nice enough to take the truck into the service department at Dimmitt Cadillac, on the way there Spunky felt some severe shacking in the front end and called me to tell me about it after they had dropped it off. The service rep from Dimmitt ended up calling me later on that day and telling me that there were all kinds of front end issues along with the yellow check engine light. Balance due $3,020.00 for repairs to a 2004 Cadillac Escalade EXT with 37,000 highway miles.

Yeah thats right a 2004 with only 37,000 miles needs $3000 plus in repairs and the best part is, it’s 20 days after the factory warranty, twenty fucking days. Than all of the American automakers sit around wondering why their luxury car sales suck, their suv sales suck and their fuel efficient cars suck and this is exactly why. Make a shitty product that can’t even hit 48,000 miles before it starts having issues, gimme a break even the crappy Expedition had over 50,000 miles before it needed any major repairs and even shitty Ford covered the repairs because it was so close to the warranty and mileage date. Keep in mind the Ford was months past the warranty experiation date and the Cadillac is only 20 days away, nice quality product and nice way to stand behind it Cadillac.

It looks like the next time Dimmitt Cadillac sends me a voucher for $20,000 off a vehicle or some special blow out offer they are running I will have to take that order to my Mercedes dealership and buy a Mercedes, at least they stand behind their shit and their shit certainly wouldn’t need any major repairs in only 37,000 miles. Such a shame that in the end the quality just wasn’t there, I am in the market for a new car to replace my Mercedes SL55 in October and it would have been nice to consider an American made Cadillac, it’s just too bad I don’t feel like being shafted in a couple of years when I chance getting another $3,000 repair bill on $75,000 vehicle that can’t reach 48,000 miles without having a major repair issue. And I thought the Air Conditioner problem I had with it was annoying a few months back but this one sucks.
