Riddle me this

by Extreme John on January 28, 2009 |

About a month ago I wrote a rant in regards to the Palm Harbor Elementary School being closed down in order to save money. I am not over ranting about this by any means, a week ago the final votes went through from the Pinellas County School Board and they decided to close 7 smaller schools in Pinellas County in order to save around $15,000,000 dollars in the budget. My anger continues to grow in regards to this and of course there isn’t anyone thats going to do a damn thing about it which is effin pathetic. Now we come to the part that drives me over the top…. Every single day I drive into the office and I pass this massive project thats going on in Largo, they are building a pretty little Multi Million dollar park called “Bald Eagle Park”…… probably about 4 miles from the massive and very popular Largo Park.

Picture of the soon to be Bald Eagle Park in Largo

Someone explain to me how it’s more important to build a effin park than it is to keep schools open that teach our kids… Better yet “A” rated schools that are tried, true and proven! Maybe I can take my daughter to the new Bald Eagle Park and explain to her how important it is to have another local park as opposed to a school, maybe we can look around Bald Eagle Park and come up with a way to try and get a grade “A” learning experience. It’s so clear to me now why Florida is the state that had the hanging chads back when Georgie the moron was elected the first time, screwed up priorities and pathetic vissionaries controlling the school board and Pinellas County as a whole. Save $15 million by cutting schools, and spend millions building a park. Good call Pinellas County School District, Im just curious if the people on the School Board might have come out of a “D” rated school system. Pathetic.

Palm Harbor Elementary School tries to move forward

I will end this rant with a positive note and a heart felt thank you to the entire teaching staff at Palm Harbor Elementary school for trying so hard to get the School Board to keep the school open. Everything from the letters they sent home, the communication they had with their students and their entire “Save our school” campaign. It’s very clear that the staff at Palm Harbor Elementary School trully do care and more importantly even after the decision to close the school was made the staff did an excellent job of educating the students and getting them to be willing to move forward too. Thank you again for your efforts they did not go unnoticed. You can see more pictures here.
