or as I will now and forever call it Rooms to Blow. Two years ago you would have thought I would have learned my lesson of buying ANYTHING from Rooms to Go (blow). My last experience with them delivering furniture into our new house was a real blast. Long story short there were a few issues and it took forever to get in touch with someone that would actually resolve my issue.
I went to Rooms to Blow on Tuesday and found a set I liked. It consisted of 2 over sized Lazy boys and an over sized Sofa. The transaction went pretty quick and painless, the salesman wasn’t overly nice but he wasn’t anything to write home about either. My delivery was set for Thursday, no specific delivery time (just anytime between 8am – 6pm). That alone pisses me off, how can you not come up with a window of time a little more realistic than 9hrs. Anyway, whatever it doesn’t surprise me this is Rooms to Blow we are talking about here.
The delivery comes during the day while I am at work, so when I get home I sit in the first recliner pull the cord and I can hear a sound of wood being scraped and the chair doesn’t open all the way. I flip the couch over and take a look under the hood. There’s a bent bar which is causing it to not recline.
I realize I am screwed because this means I will have to call Rooms to Blow and inform them of this issue, something I have done in the past and got pretty much no where with. It’s now 5:10pm EST, I call the Rooms to Go 1-800 number and no surprise, after I go through their annoying menu I get connected to a customer service department that is CLOSED. Figures Rooms to Go is open till 9pm to collect your money but their service line shuts the doors at 5pm like it’s a Union Job. Next.
I call the location I bought it from, ask to speak to a Store Manager (it’s now 5:20pm) and no surprise again, “There are no managers here now sir.” No Managers anywhere in the building, who the fuck runs this place after 5pm? It’s a free for all I guess. Instead I get directed to a “Senior Sales Rep”, his name is Mike and he was actually very nice, by this time he listened to my entire rant. He assured me that the Manager coming in tomorrow was actually a District Manager and would call me “First thing in the morning.” Now in my world “First thing in the Morning” mean maybe 8, 9 or 10am at the latest. I end up getting a phone call around 1:30pm from the same guy I spoke to the night before. He apologized and said that the Manager he thought would be in was actually off that day and he was unaware of it. He went on to tell me that I would get a phone call first thing Saturday morning from the Store Manager. Yet AGAIN I am sitting and WAITING to deal with someone from Rooms to Go. The paying customer is waiting for a simple phone call from a Manager, any Manager from Rooms to Go. I gotta be honest in saying thats a crock of shit and a very clear example of just how little Rooms to Go gives a shit about their customers.
Finally Saturday at 1:15 in the afternoon I get a phone call from Rooms to Go in Clearwater Florida, the girl says, “Hi this is so and so from Rooms to Go I would like to setup an appointment for someone to come out and look at your furniture problem either next Wed, Thursday or Friday.” Now I am beyond pissed, 2 phone calls to Rooms to Go and can’t get anyone, than the two ass clowns from the Clearwater location that were suppose to call me back “First Thing in the Morning” fail to follow through and now they are telling me it will be another week before someone will look at my shit. Sorry but again Rooms to Blow simply fucking pathetic. I go back and forth with the girl on the phone, ask her if she’s a Manager and she tells me no. Now I would love to know why I can’t get a return phone call from a Manager. I didn’t want to talk to another sales rep or whatever else. I wanted to talk to a Manager so they can either come and pick this shit up or get someone out here to replace it or fix it. I give her all of those options and she just continues to tell me how, “Im sorry sir I don’t have that authority.” THAN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU CALLING ME!
The bottom line here is that Rooms to Go is not going to give anyone their money back, they also could care less about resolving any issue’s and they have yet to back up their promises of getting a Manager in touch with me. Do yourself a favor and do the same exact thing I am going to do… NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM ROOMS TO GO you will end up just like me, annoyed, pissed off and wanting to bash someone’s face in.

I’m doing grad coursework and the prof asked us to find some examples of blogs. I bought from “Rooms to Blow” in 2000…I take every opportunity to tell people to RUN in the other direction…I had so many terrible experiences as the result of one…count it ONE purchase…NEVER AGAIN!!!
Hey, thanks man! I haven’t had the misfortune of dealing with Rooms To Blow before, but your rant has turned me off EVER wanting to set foot in their store, so you’ve saved me a heap of time and money.
I recently bought two oversized sofas for the outdoor pergolas at my place and although I’m not willing to give them a plug here, let’s just say the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. I had a problem with one of the mattress springs being askew and getting in the way of opening out the bed, but they got a tradesman out the VERY NEXT DAY and he had it fixed in a couple of minutes. Job done and everybody happy.
So, sorry to hear about your worse than rotten experience buddy.
Avoiding Rooms to Blow sound like sound advice to me. I will stick with the local furniture store. We party with them and love them dearly.

I’m with you there, never again. We purchased replacement furniture from them after a flood because we saw a set we liked. Overpriced, crap furniture. Bought two identical couches, and the salesman was happy to take our money, but its been a hassle ever since. One couch broke the beam on the back within a month of use and now I’m sitting here waiting past my freaking window of allotted time for the damn replacement. And they won’t deliver anywhere but the service address (we have been in the middle of moving for a month now), so I’m sitting here in the middle of an EMPTY damn house at that waiting on these idiots to replace this crap couch. And I can’t get ahold of anybody now since they CS lines closed at 4:30. They need after hours service, over seas if they freaking have to, I don’t care. Someone needs to be on call for this!
Rooms To Go is the worst business I have ever had to deal with, if you leave in Katy Tx, DO NOT GO THERE!!! YOU WILL GET SCREWED!!
ROOMS TO GO OPERATE ON THE IDEAL OF DO-WE-CHEAT-THEM-AND-HOW!
Well, we got the same shaft at Rooms To Blow. We bought the furniture. It took days and days to get the it and Yes the window of delivery was about 7 hours.
A few hours later after checking the Camera video we noticed that they used what looked like a knife to open the boxes. We checked the furniture and guess what we found, cuts and cuts. After many phone calls we had to waite about two weeks to have someone from Rooms To Blow to come and JUST LOOK at the furniture (another day off).
Theres alot more to this Rooms To Blow story but I’ll just end it here.
I’m going back to the “Save U Money” store. Hey most of the time they have better stuff and cheaper. U get free food, free Ice Cream, better selection of Furniture and it is delivered TODAY!!!

@F. Garcia, thank you for taking the time to leave you’re story and comment. I still haven’t been to a Rooms to Go.
Avoid Rooms to Go, the customer service is pathetic. It took 3 weeks to get my furniture! Save your self the trouble and go somewhere else. I will never step foot the store in Katy again.
I bought my bedroom suit from Rooms to Go. They delivered my bed and told me I would have to wait on my dresser. Now the sales guy promised everything at once, but the delivery guy told me in confidence this happens a lot. I then had to take another day off work to get my dresser and night stands delivered…except there were no night stands. I have now been waiting on my night stand for 4 months and tonight they were going to deliver them between 4 and 8 pm but I just got a call at 8:50 pm that they won’t be able to make the delivery I will have to reschedule!!! This is ridiculous. I would encourage anyone who in thinking of buying furniture from this company to run!!! They are rude, and once they get your money there are no returns so if they deliver your bed and you have to wait a year for your dresser and night stands if you want them to match you have to wait….They have a no return policy!!! What happen to customer service?

Sadly Phil customer service seems to be getting murdered off more and more on a daily basis, it’s sad.

Calling all members to church! I have a new one for you! Room-2-Blow has done it again and wants to deny any wrongdoing AGAIN! My wife and I have been searching Northwest Houston’s furniture stores religiously for several days for a large sectional sofa that can seat up to 8 people comfortably. We have six kids between us, so space is definitely an issue. We saw a really nice sectional on sale for $1988. It is called the “Buchanan” by Cindy Crawford and her line of furniture (whatever that is, I think). Anyway, the picture shown on the display with the sale price and the floor model matched exactly. We saw a six base cushion couch with plenty of pillows for the back in nice patterns and what seemed like sturdy material. After surveying the rest of the store, we really liked that one the best. To name a couple, we then went to Ashley Furniture and Gallery Furniture to compare sectionals, quality and prices. In the end, after hours and hours of driving and shopping, we took our daughter with us back to Room-2-Blow to get another opinion. After some thought, consideration and stewing, we finally decided to let on the salespeople know that we were interested. The salesman looked it up to see whether the sectional was in stock, so we could find out an estimated delivery date. When he comes back, he says “Oh, by the way, you know that this piece right here (pointing to one base cushion of the sectional) is not part of the set; it is extra.” Astonished, we said “Excuse me?!Well then how much is it?” After looking the displayed prices over, he said “It’s $599.” Astonished again, we said “Excuse me?! Well then why is the entire set in this picture?” The salesman really couldn’t explain it and eventually, we were so pissed and let down that we said whatever and goodbye.
Well, being pissed, I was about to walk out of the store and I just couldn’t do it. I walked back to thes salesman and asked if I could speak to his manager. He left and eventually the manager came over. The manager’s name is John (which by the way, for anyone who knows me, I only know jerks named “John” – no offense to the good ones out there like Extreme John, but Wow – my luck wasn’t improving). I basically explained the entire problem to John and he wouldn’t apologize, admit any wrongdoing and then blamed it on corporate for sending him a “standard” picture. Now, to give you some perspective, the sign does list the items in the sectional package, but the names for them are always deceiving wherever you go, so my wife and I paid no attention to them (i.e., even “loveseat” doesn’t always refer to a 2-base cushion sofa – it has come to mean a larger single cushion, or smaller 3-cushions). We had no idea how this sectional was configured, so to us, the picture told a thousand words – that the item we would get had 6 base cushions, not 5 (plus $600 more if you want 6). John’s explanation was horse manure at its best and exemplified a manager trying to uphold an old trick many call the “Bait and Switch”. Even after all these years, the old standards keep getting recycled. After some heavy BS, I then pulled a rabbit out of my hat that I don’t like to do – although I now teach at a local high school and community college, my former life was as a trial lawyer (11 years). I told him that his company was guilty of the bait-and-switch, which is illegal under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Act (DTPA). He told me that I was welcome to write or call people at Rooms-2-Blow, and in a nutshell, tell them whatever I wanted about what his store had done because he had done nothing wrong. Hmmm—-my curiosity is that when someone tells me that several puppies will cost me $1988 and the picture showing me the sale has six (6) puppies in it, how is it ok to legitimately sell me five (5) puppies because several means five (5) in his mind?
In the end, WHEW! I think God was telling us not to buy from Rooms-2-Blow. Whatever His reasons were, He either agrees with you, Extreme John, or He wants us to save our money. Either way, cash didn’t even entice our manager. We weren’t going to pay on credit, fill out applications for a long-term payout, or even do layaway, etc. We have cash in the bank and wanted to get something now. Be careful out there church members, avoid Rooms-2-Blow at all costs. You too will be the next victim of the bait and switch, or some other crap that it is spewing into our consumer society’s corporate wasteland.
Thanks for the venting arena!
(3rd Time)
Well It is now 07/23/2010 and we now have our last item replaced.
So about 60 days later, almost 3 days OFF, still NO phones calls and several unmarked delivery trucks from RTB our Order is complete.
(the delivery guys is another BAD STORY)
Hey after 35 years of shopping I screwed up- STAY AWAY from rooms to blow.
Dont fall for the “No interest until 2015″ sale without researching it.You absolutely CAN NOT pay your balance off early! You must make 51 payments and if you’re a day late then you get an interest rate of 29.9% for the entire purchase amount, even if you only owe one more payment.
My conclusion- They force you to make the minimum payment while hoping that you will be late on a payment during the 4 years.
Wow, lots of horror stories about RTG!!
Pretty unfortunate to hear, I bought from them a few times over the years without incident. Kinda seems like they got a little too big and now things are getting away from them. I have had some issues at Kanes in the past with wrong delivery dates, quality issues, but anyone I know who bought from them (until now) has has good experiences.
my experience with rooms to go sucks my love seat came with no legs and they did not know when they would fix the problem so after about 15 or so phone calls i still dont have the legs for the sofa…the other issue is you cant return them they have the terms of the deal on the back of your recived and you cant even read the letters (thats telling you something is wrong) Dont buy at rooms to go
