I am hot hot hot right now and it’s all because of Twitter! The very same Twitter that I have come to love and enjoy for so many reasons is the same Twitter that has me burning up and for good reason.
We recently decided to step up our game with our business Twitter accounts, this was a decision we decided on because we understand the importance of social media and servicing your online clients as well, not to mention it’s a great way to interact with our customers. We have something like ten different Twitter accounts for the various needs of our limousine business and indoor tanning business.
Currently we only utilize a few of our Twitter accounts, the rest of the account are reserved for future use and expanssion programs we currently have on the table. I included a list of a few of the Twitter accounts that we use below, please keep in mind that we have actual staff members that are in place to interact on Twitter, we do not use auto-responders or fake Twitter bots to interact with everyone.
Small Business Twitter Accounts
- Insane Limos Twitter account @insanelimos
- MMA Punk twitter account @mmapunk
- Bonehead Bulldogs twitter account @boneheadbulldog
- Extreme John twitter account @extremejohn
There is one very important Twitter account that is missing off of the above list, that would be the Twitter account for our indoor tanning salon business Extreme Tan and Smoothies. Here’s the part where I stop the big build up and try to move along with this, Twitter decided to suspend the account that we use for our tanning business.
Banned Twitter account screen shot
Now the important thing to keep in mind here is that we have an actual human that does actually interact with the people we follow and the people that follow us on Twitter, so the reason for having the account suspended on Twitter doesn’t really make much sense to us. With our commitment to customer service comes a commitment to product knowledge, the same Extreme Tan and Smoothies associate that writes and updates the Extreme Tan and Smoothies Blog is the same associate that interacts with people on Twitter.

Now based on the image above you can see that in the event your Twitter account is suspended and you feel it was a mistake you can write Twitter and let them know, this was of course something we did immediately because we were surprised to see the account suspended in the first place. After writing Twitter in regards to the suspended account I was hoping that there would be a fast resolution and response from the good folks at Twitter, boy was I wrong since it’s now been over two weeks and we still have no response.
I was so pissed off initially that I planned on writing this post right away, but being a big fan and everyday user of Twitter I decided to hang out and wait a little bit and see if this issue could be resolved in a timely fashion, two weeks is not timely. Now I can say it, Screw Twitter!
Overall I really am not all that pissed pff about it, I wasn’t really thrilled with the Twitter name that we were able to obtain for our business which is of course due to the fact that some other sack that hasn’t signed on in almost a year has our actual business name, or at least the short version of our name on Twitter. That jackass also only tweeted one time ever, quality stuff.
In business two weeks is equal to four months in my eyes, so we will no longer be waiting on a response from Twitter or for our previous business Twitter account for our tanning salons to be un-suspended. I had a few extra moments today to get a new Twitter account setup for Extreme Tan and Smoothies, this was of course a royal inconvenience because I had to setup an additional email account and re-do the background and all of that crap. You can now follow Extreme Tan and Smoothies on twitter @etasflorida
Have you ever had your Twitter account suspended or do you know someone that had their account suspended at Twitter? If so please leave a comment and let us know how long it took before the suspended account was released or if it was not released at all, I am curious to know what usually goes on with suspended Twitter accounts.

Never had my twitter account suspended, but it appears that twitter is doing some kind of partiality with me…It has banned me from Search results for no reason.
Anyways, there are cases of Suspended accounts being re-initiated. Just write to them and keep hoping that it works out for you. Good luck.

I have several twitters and one had it’s posts removed from the timelines! Luckily, after several months the tweets from @AtomSounds started re-appearing, but it took a heck of a lot of hair pulling to actually get a response from Twitter, as for user names, I wanted to use my artist name “Remergence” but some so and so had used it and they don’t even post anything on twitter

@Karen@Blazing Minds, yeah thats one of the most annoying things about Twitter is the dead accounts that could actually serve a great purpose.
Some of my friends have had the same problem and this is something I really hate about big sites and companies. When something goes wrong, there is no support whatsoever. Same thing with Google which is a bit weird since so many people make money through them.

What a pain in the ass!! Especially as they’re not responding to let you know what the hell is going on! I mean, how doy avoid making the same “mistake” in the future if you don’t even know what you did wrong this time!?

Sorry to hear of your problems and makes me think how some things can happen which are completely out of your hands on Twitter.
I’ve never had my account suspended but again i never had multiple account at one site. Seems yesterday was an overall pretty bad day for you John. Sorry I had to add to your anxiety.
I’m surprised they still haven’t gotten a hold of you and it’s been 2 weeks that;’s insane I’m a one man show at blogengage and respond to user questions within 24 hours if not immediately.
Hopefully within time you can get your accounts working again. Sorry to hear about your issues twitter really is a great marketing tool.

@bbrian017, I’m sorry that separate business and personal accounts are so troubling to you Brian, you do know that the #3 social media site in the world encourages them right?
As for my day yesterday it was excellent actually, the silly shit with you putting your foot in your mouth than realizing it isn’t something that would give me anxiety.
I appreciate the well wishes in regards to my account(s), but in reality everything is cool here, got the new Twitter account setup @etasflorida and will begin growing it again as we were before.
I’ve never had any account got suspended yet. I am surprised to see some account got suspended. I remember very well that the account of one of my friend got suspended as he was inactive.
Maybe it was due to multiple account creation, if that is a problem with Twitter guys

I can understand why you got mad about the kind of situation. I got an account suspended once and I did not have any problems setting up a new one. Whatever happened to that account I do not know, but it did not bother me much because it was not important. Now, for a business like yours, that “suspended” flag is not good as it can cause all kinds of “rumors”, if you know what I mean. Bad publicity always takes care of itself. You are right though that two weeks is totally unacceptable. If these guys want to ever monetize Twitter and actually find a model that works, then they will have to seriously get their acts together..

That totally sucks John. Your actually the first person I heard of get their account suspended, but in reading the reviews it sounds like it is not uncommon. What really sucks is having to deal with a company so large that they offer terrible support… where you can’t get issues resolved. Good-luck with this!

That is a bummer. I had an account banned a couple of months ago and I followed what they outlined and a week later I git reinstated. My problem was I was following and unfollowing people too much. I just said I was not aware that I couldn’t do that and I told them I would not do it again and they gave me my account with 4,000 followers back. Good luck to ya.

ShaunJudy´s last blog ..Best MMA Knock Out(s) Ever!
Hello John, I too have an account suspended by Twitter and in response to my query as to why, they sent me an automated response that it could be several reasons, domain squatting and multiple account creation just to name a few. They suggested I read the fine print in their “Twitter terms of service policy” ugh, thanks for the unhelp.
So I figure I will just have to let that account go and be thankful they didnt suspend everything! I was doing a bit of research about creating multiple accounts on Twitter because I only had a few email accounts and they only allow one account per email address. I found a really cool way around this and will tell you about it if you dont already know via email. Let me know.

Twitter is good blogger site but it is not more useful like orkut. Now a days orkut is the best social networking site.

Welcome to the Screwed by Twitter Club, John. As you know I have multiple blogs covering things from Rving, Pets, Crafts, Nutrition, etc and I wanted to set up a Twitter account for each of my blog themes so that each time I posted to a blog it would then syndicate into the relevant blog. Well, to make a long story short, you are wasting precious time and energy in trying to get Twitter to respond to you much less get you re-instated, cause it aint gonna happen.
Now we all know that Twitter will eventually suspend your account due to inactivity but that takes awhile. These accounts were suspended ONE day after I created them, built a profile, chose special colors, tweeted, etc. Man I was PISSED! I too was doing nothing wrong, I had found some good Twitter URL’s and was getting them set up with Splitweet to manage them. I never did get an answer from Twitter about the issue and my webmaster suggested that they suspended the accounts due to their new push against domain squatters. Once again we have the spammers to thank for making our lives more difficult online.
