I typically reserve my “Smackable” series for certain groups of people that typically do the same dumb thing, which is soley based on my opinion and what I think is right or wrong. I hardly write the “Smackable” series as a series that I feel everyone will agree with. This edition of Smackable is a little different in the fact it is not aimed at a group of people, like people that smoke with their kids in the car or public nose blowers. Instead this Smackable article is about a young lady (or mental patient) that recently made some claims in regards to one of our tanning salons.
A story like this doesn’t come around often which is probably a good thing or I would be certain we as human beings would be doomed. A few weeks back news had come in that a woman who had a long tanning history with us claimed to be burned while tanning in one of our tanning beds. This seemed very odd because it is not very often that you see someone receive a burn in a tanning bed that they typically tan in and have a long history of doing. Basically the woman claimed to be burned while tanning in “X Bed” for “X amount of time”, when we viewed this young ladies history she had tanned in that tanning bed at least 10x prior for the same total tan time. Very odd to say the least.
Now when something like this happens the insurance company typically jumps in with a bunch of attorneys and looks into the claims being made, as do we. Keep in mind we certify our ENTIRE staff through the American Tanning Institute, when Florida state law only requires that you have ONE certified staff member per tanning location. Our staff is very well trained in the overall safety of indoor tanning and customer safety, we have an impecable safety and inspection record and have for over 5 years.
While the insurance company attorneys were interviewing the woman for her second time something very strange occured… The woman changed her story completly from the claims of being burned to a claim which has nothing at all to do with being burned. The womans new claim showed me something about people in the world that I thought I already knew before hand, I guess it just hit me kind of strange… People are crazy. This crazy bitch changed her claim from being burned in a tanning bed to a claim that she slipped and fell. What kind of moron looking to make a false claim to begin with would be dumb enough to change their already false claim to something else which makes them look more rediculous?
I doubt I can really stand by the claim that this freak was the Dumby of the Decade but I feel pretty comfortable standing by my claim that I think she is pretty dumb. I hope the best for this woman and I hope that whatever help she needs or whatever it is that she is looking for in her crazy ass life she can actually find it, it’s more than clear that she needs it.

I’m presuming the whole incident resolved itself after she changed her story. Good thing, too. The last thing you need is a scammer that ISN’T a huge moron.
Nope she is sticking to her new claim now. haha.
Wow, what an idiot.
Christina Bledsoe’s last blog post..Dancing Cats – Go Kitty Go!
Her name doesn’t happen to be RuthAnn Wickham does it? We had the same thing happen here in Arkansas. She lost, and we laughed……..
@A Sage Iam really not sure, all though I would refrain from saying her name anyhow. She is much better known as the Dumby of the Decade
