Snake Warning

This may very well be my first blog post that is about a snake or includes a picture of a snake and I hope it’s the last one. Early yesterday afternoon I received a text from Lisa which had a pretty little attachment, a picture of what I consider to be a very large snake. Before I even continue let me be very clear in saying, I think snakes are great for the environment and I love close encounter opps like seeing them in protective glass areas. I will also say I hate snakes anywhere near me or anywhere on our property, through the last few years of living in Florida I have had more than enough snake sightings to make me happy.

The picture that Lisa had sent to me was of the snake that you can see in the picture below, it’s a pretty crazy looking snake in my opinion. I am sure there are plenty of people out there who have no problems with snakes and who will think this snake is harmless, I don’t know snakes I have no idea what is harmless or harmful when it comes to snakes. I solve that problem very simply, all snakes are harmful stay away from them. This theory has always seemed to work well for me, I don’t get bit by snakes and they don’t have to worry about re-sharpening their fangs after latching onto me. Seems more than fair to both of us.

Lisa had heard Kennedy our female English Bulldog barking continuously and all though she could get Kennedy to stop for very brief periods of time, Kennedy would go right back to barking outside. Lisa headed out there to see what Kennedy was barking at and much to Lisa’s surprise she came across this Bluestripe Garter Snake. The Bluestripe Garter Snake is a non-venomous and known to hang around in marsh lands and, well…. backyards. I personally think it’s a wicked looking snake that I wouldn’t get very close to, Lisa however was brave an d nice enough to take a few pictures. Before you start with the crazy comments I was at work and couldn’t take the pictures, I also did go looking for the snake when I got home from work.

Would you go near this Bluetripe Garder Snake?

Kennedy has always been the explorer out of all four of the bulldogs from the time we got them as puppies, Kennedy still continues on her destructive ways and she has not lost the urge to see whats up. In addition to being the most curious out of all of the puppies, and being the most destructive, the largest and well most likely the laziest as well. You can see Kennedy during one of her lazy sessions in the picture below.

Kennedy much less active than the day she met the Snake

Have you ever had a crazy run in with a snake or some other wild reptile or animal in your backyard? In your space? Eeek. Please leave a comment with your story, I am sure others would love to read it and even if they don’t I will be. I constantly ask my brother what wild things he has run into while at work, fascinated by the stories just not the encounters.

I voted yes…For the pure fact that yeah, I’d go near it – To beat it over the head with a shovel. No way I’d have something like that anywhere near my house, kids or pets! Christ, my dog would probably try to eat the thing or play with it like a toy. lol

@lace that is exactly what my Bulldog Kennedy was probably thinking about the Snake.

Dude, I absolutely hate snakes. They freak me out. I don’t want anything to do with small harmless ones either. Like Lace said, I’d probably grab a shovel and start swinging. Oh, my brother-in-law killed one that was in his yard with Raid of all things a while back too. LOL. Nice!

I dont really mind snakes, so I would choose YES that I would go near it. Obviously ones that are highly dangerous I would steer clear but otherwise I think they are great pets, I used to own 3.

@Carol @ Conservatories West Molesey, you would need to be careful with this little guy though, his bite all though not poisonous would be filled with enough bacteria to swell you up for some time to come.

@Carol @ Conservatories West Molesey,

I do not agree snake are not pets as they are never tamed. They bite whenever they get chance.

Beauty wise snake is unique but its bite can invite death. I have observed a unique cobra that is of color pink and black but it is said about that cobra that its bite can cause death at spot
