You can file this post under the category of posts I have been meaning to write for a while but the topic itself is constantly changing which means every time I go to write it there’s some new Social Networking or Social Bookmarking tool that came out that I need to play with. That would be one big file to file this under so instead of wasting your time filing anything just keep in mind the rough and tumble terrain I cover for you. Ok enough of that, what is pretty funny to me while I write this post about Social Networking, Social Bookmarking, Blogging and Micro Blogging there is a new tool I will be posting in here that I just started using about 10 minutes ago. My intention with this blog post about the Social Mayhem that’s going on right now is to show you a few of the different sites I choose to use and why, who knows maybe you will find it useful in your own web dealings. This post might have a tendency to be somewhat large so Im going to get down to it so I don’t keep you tied up.
List of Social Networking and Social Bookmarking sites I use:
Twitter – The next big craze is underway and thanks to a web friend of mine name John I got into the mix a little early. Twitter allows people to follow you through the Twitter site and as you post updates about your status the people that choose to follow you can get updates on their Cell Phone or in their web browser. It’s the perfect tool to stalk me with and all though I don’t have much to say as a whole, I do have a couple of people that follow along to see my daily updates. You can also see my Twitter messages automatically on my Facebook and the top of the Extreme John website. You can also follow your favorite celebrities or maybe not some favorite celebrities, I follow 50 Cent and Frank Shamrock to name a few. I also follow the Insane Limos and Extreme Tan and Smoothies on Twitter.
Delicious – Delicious allows me to store some or all of the sites I want to bookmark and allows me to store them in one place so I can access them from any computer.
FreindFeed – Allows me to broadcast messages, blog posts, favorite links or whatever else I pretty much want to friends, family and anyone that might follow me.
Google Bookmarks – a Social Bookmarking tool from Google, just like Delicious it stores all of my bookmarks in one easy to access place so I can go back to them from any computer at any time.
Google Reader -Google reader allows you to follow specific sites that you may like and updates the content in your Google Reader which saves you time allowing you to check one place for updates from your favorite sites.
Mixx – Another site that allows me to store my Bookmarks online which works out great when I want to go back and check out a site and can’t remember the exact name of it. Mixx has a little bit more depth in regards to setting up your profile and integrating it with your Twitter updates as well. This is one of my more enjoyable Bookmarking sites that I like to use, the design is clean and it’s always quick and the added features are a nice bonus too.
Plurk – This is one unique site and to be honest with you I only started using it because it was one of the sites in my Shareaholic. As time has gone by I have actually started to like the design of this site which offers a side scrolling timeline of status updates from the people following you, some random people and of course people you want to watch also. I would invite you to check out Plurk if your looking for a different from the norm experience, who knows maybe you’ll have better Karma than me (they rate that).
Reddit – Reddit is that horny little rabbit that you just cant stay away from…. Ok maybe that part isn’t true but Reddit is one of the original Social Bookmarking sites that are out there, featuring a nice clean interface for you to share and publish links so that you can check them out from any computer at any time.
Tumblr – Ok before you start making fun of this one I haven’t had a chance to really customize much here even though I have been using Tumblr for a while and like the site. One of the features I like best is the feed follower which allows me to have the RSS Feeds from my blogs pulled into Tumblr.
Twine – Twine is another one of those Social Bookmarking sites but it’s one you can’t pass up on with a simple interface and with the excellent integration that Shareaholic did making it easy to save bookmarks right from the toolbar you would be silly not to include this in your tools.
Ping.fm – The domain for Ping would be so much cooler if it were Ping.com but it’s not and it doesn’t hurt this tool at all. Every time I turn around im thinking that there has to be a fast easy way to update all of your Social Networking profiles in one quick swoop, Ping.fm gets you pretty close. Ping.fm allows you to connect most of the popular Social Networking sites from Ping.fm where you can login and do status updates, micro blog, upload pictures and even soon video. You can also use Ping.fm and the functions of Ping from your cell phone, snap a hot picture of a girl in a bikini upload it from your phone to Ping.fm and have it spread automatically to your My Space, Facebook, Hi5, and Twitter accounts to name a few. This is the tool I started using about 5 minutes before I started writing this blog post, in short I havent had a ton of playtime to experiment with it but what I did have time to play with left me feeling all warm and tingly.
Yahoo! Buzz – Buzz is a great website for bringing attention to something or better yet reading whats going on out there or what people are “Buzzing” about on the web at any given moment. Yahoo has become a set of tools that I enjoy using more and more, even their captcha codes are amongst the easiest to deal with… God knows I hate those things.
Technorati – Before you click on this link (especially the bloggers) keep in mind I never claimed to be the Technorati master or anything along those lines. Most big time blogs will use Technorati as another tool to show off how sexy their site ranks amongst the other billions that are listed in the Technorati database, perhaps the next version of Alexa. I use it as a simple Bookmark collection tool and the one I use most when looking to return to a hard to remember site, there’s also nothing wrong with having a link or two to your own site here.
Mister Wong – Mister Wong will probably rank as my favorite Bookmarking tool with a nice little cross feature to ship my post over to Twitter right from the Bookmark interface. This means I can not only Bookmark my links with easy to go through tags, but I can also shoot the links over to my followers on Twitter in the event they have some time to kill.
Blinklist – All though constantly slow it’s still another great place to store some bookmarks and have the ability to view by tag or by page.
Faves – I like Faves it’s a fast and very simple additional tool to use in saving your favorites or of course building your personal or business website.
Xanga – I have relaxed a little bit on the daily usage of Xanga simply based on the amount of hours in a day or lack of hours in a day. It is still an additional tool in the fight for growth so I get on there when I can, I also found out with Xanga that you would be surprised who else might actually use it too. Good for finding some old friends and what not in the event you can’t find them on My Space or Facebook.
MySpace – In this day and age if you dont know what My Space is, I give up. All though full of all kinds of people My Space allows me to get the message out for personal and professional events.
Facebook – Initially I turned to Facebook to get away from all the colorful childs BS that can be seen on every single My Space page. I still continue to keep my Facebook account for a specific group of people where the MySpace is what it is.
I don’t expect that my little list of my favorite Bookmarking and Social Networking sites will offer anything exciting for the hardcore Social Bookmarkers and Networkers out there, maybe it will help a newbie and give ya something extra to look at. Any of you that do check out any of the sites above regardless if it’s Twitter or MySpace don’t be shy and follow me so I can follow you as well.

I like your blog and wanted to say keep up the good work. Do you plan on posting more soon?
Thank you Hellen, my blog is a little unique in the fact that I really never know what Im going to post about, I like doing the Social Networking and Social Bookmarking posts especially if it helps people out. I am still constantly learning and as soon as I have the next informative post I can assure you it will be up. Thank you and I hope you continue to stop by.
John, what’s up dude? I hope you’re feeling better finally and back to the grind. I’ve been offline for a few days myself. I don’t know about anyone else, but I found this post extremely helpful. The last time you wrote one like this is actually how I found your blog as you know. So thanks! Keep it up man!
I appreciate that TCC at least someone reads this stuff on here, most people just want crazy pictures haha. As for this FLU can you believe this crap is still hanging around it’s going on two weeks. Worst cold ever. I will be heading your way tonight Im starting to get back into the swing of things but cant wait to be 100%.
Alexa rankings can’t be the sole determinants of measuring a sites importance and popularity as the http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main/fortunehotels.in rankings do not take into account all the browser types like Windows Vista etc.
There are so many Social Bookmarking/Social Networking sites around theses days. I only do Twitter, Facebook and Digg. Takes too much time to update it all otherwise.
Agreed, you can easily spend an entire day doing nothing but updating.
Very useful links you have here John, but I feel it is impossible to be a member to all those site. I will chose the most popular ones.
Yeah John, You are a footstep ahead than others, The social networking is the best thing which can be integrated with a blog, as you have done. It's nice.
I appreciate that but there are way better than me when it comes to blogs and blogging, I do it for fun.

Thanks for that info John, I try to use just a couple of these social things because of the time involved. I have 20 blogs to keep up with and that takes 99% of my time. I will investigate Plurk though and let you know what I think.
Dick´s last blog ..Rock Your RV With The Beatles

Even though this is a pretty good example. I believe that there is a lot more that could be written on this particular subject.
