The weather in this part of Florida can be crazy around this time of year, with these nasty afternoon storms that roll in sometime in the late afternoon. The storms don’t usualy last more than 15-20 minutes, but they are usually very powerful thunderstorms with heavy lightning and some of the nastiest looking clouds you have ever seen.
One of the other wild things about living in Florida is how you can actually hear the rain coming down the street if your standing outside when a storm cloud moves in. In todays video I happen to capture the rain moving in along with this storm cloud that came through, this storm cell generated a small funnel cloud about an hour later in Tampa.
I posted a few pictures of a storm moving in right around my neighborhood one evening, I also posted the video of that storm as well. The storms seem a little more crazy this year or better yet, angry. I can’t remember hearing about so many funnel clouds and tornado’s touching down in any of the previous years we have lived here, this year is wild.
Some of these videos can be tough to get because of the lightning factor, thanks to my brother tormenting me with lightning as a child I really try to avoid standing in any area that might allow me to have my shoes blown off.

Weather is going crazy. Here in Slovenia (central europe) we never had so many storms as lately. And people were really freaked out last year, when a ‘small’ tornado appeared for a few minutes during a storm. It’s was a total shock to see it, since they’re really uncommon here.
I’m not used to drawing landscapes, better with people. Any tips on how to draw a realistic dark sky using soft pastels? Layer light to dark, or dark to light?
