I am going to try as hard as I can to get through this post without showing just how really excited I am about the up and coming Strikeforce fight card with the main event featuring Fedor Emelianenko vs Brett Rogers. Most of you know my views on Fedor Emelianenko and Strikeforce and him dodging the UFC for yet another epic time. I was hoping that somewhere out of the lucky blue sky that Josh Barnett would have beat Fedor but that was screwed when Barnett tested positive for roids…. again.
On Saturday November 7th Fedor will finally stop doing exhibition Sambo matches and taking pictures and actually get his ass in the ring, he won’t be facing the #2 ranked MMA fighter or even anyone in the Top 5 for that matter, regardless I still will sit back and hope that Brett Rogers KO’s Fedor so all the endless Fedor banter can be silenced. I am beyond over Fedor and hearing about him being the #1 fighter in the world and trust me before all of the Fedor fans run in here to his rescue, don’t waste your time I have already heard it all.

Strikeforce Fedor vs Rogers Predictions
Fedor (30-1) vs Brett Rogers (10-0) – I won’t point out the obvious experience difference between these two mma fighters, ok I guess I just did. Fedor has beat the who’s who of mixed martial arts but hasn’t had a fight against any real competitor in the last five years, Rogers is a heavy handed monster who has easily punched his way to 10 victories.
I would love nothing more than to see Brett Rogers destroy Fedor, I don’t want it to happen in the first round or quickly I would prefer to see Rogers knock Fedor down a few times in the first than end it in the second round, that would reduce the excuse making of the hardcore Fedor fans. Keep in mind I typical make my predictions based on who I want to win and not who I think will win, this is one of those cases. My prediction Brett Rogers by KO, because let’s face it if he ends up on the ground with Fedor the fight is over.
Jake Shields (23-4-1) vs Jason Miller (22-6) – I don’t really see Mayhem Miller beating Jake Shields in this fight, don’t get me wrong here though I would love to see Miller win the fight mainly because I have always liked Miller, he’s got a crazy personality thats for sure. My prediction Jake Shields.
Fabricio Verdum (12-4-1) vs Antonio Silva (12-1) – Not even sure why I am making a prediction for this fight I honestly could care less about seeing it, I guess it’s a bonus that this is a free mixed martial arts event being shown on CBS. Back to the fight, Im going to flip a coin real quick and make my prediction so I can wrap this up and start looking at the UFC 106 fight card. My prediction iiiiiiiissssssssss (coin flipping)……. Antonio Silva, the guy has 8 KO’s in 12 fights and extra KO on this four fight card wouldn’t be all that bad.

I remember having this feeling just before the last Kimbo Slice fight on CBS which was put on by Strikeforce, on that special night Seth Petruzelli KO’d Kimbo as well as Strikeforce. I have to wonder what the end result might be if Fedor does get knocked out by Rogers. no fight against a real competitor in 5 years?
Arlovski was universally ranked top 5 when Fedor knocked him out, he was scheduled to fight another top 5 heavyweight in Barnett. Sylvia was certainly top 10, maybe top 5 before Fedor destroyed him.
who exactly was Fedor supposed to fight in that time period? the only UFC heavy I would have ranked higher than Sylvia or Arlovski at the time Fedor fought them would be Nog, who is already 0-2 vs Fedor.
Rogers is ranked 6th in a fair few places, though Barnett’s suspension would move Brett up to 5th.

Everyone has their opinions on Fedor and I respect that, as for Sylvia as highly ranked as he might have been he was a joke. Thats more clear now than ever before, Arlovski was doing a good job when he stuck to his gameplan, had he stuck to it I don’t personally believe he would have beat Andre. With that said Arlovski was useless as soon as he lost to Sylvia, he was never the same.
As for Rogers I guess all I can hope for is that he actually performs like the 6th rank fighter that some places have him listed as.

Dude, I have to tell you, I laughed my ass off when Kimbo Slice lost his first fight on The Ultimate Fighter. He has never impressed me. I was curious to see the Fedor fight and also hope he loses.

Fedor should beat Rogers, barring some universal imbalance of epic proportions.. Rogers may be Strikeforce’s Shane Carwin (though much bigger) but I just can’t see how he could possibly pull this one off. He’s a tough guy though, so I do see it going to the second round.
Shields should beat Miller.
I’m pulling for Antonio Silva against Werdum, Werdum may be the best heavyweight grappler in all of MMA but Bigfoot’s grappling isn’t too shabby either, and the man has some serious power. I could easily see him doing far better in the UFC than Werdum (wouldn’t get KO’d by JDS, that’s for sure) so unless Werdum’s grappling is THAT much better and he gets a sub, I see him getting KO/TKO’d in the second.

You forgot to write a prediction for Mousasi vs. Sokoudjou.
I personally think this will be an embarrassing fight for Rogers. In my opinion he will either come out full steam carelessly and get taken down and beaten quickly, or he’ll be too worried about getting taken down to strike effectively, and Fedor will beat him one way or the other. Rogers has not been tested in the least bit yet, and the only serious heavyweight he’s faced (Arlovski), is like you said, probably over the hill. It also only lasted 20 seconds. You don’t get to know anything about a fighter in 22 seconds. Hopefully this fight will go a little longer so we can actually find out how good Brett Rogers is.
With that said I’m def rooting for Fedor. I want him to cement his place as top heavyweight on the planet and force UFC into a unification bout or something. I also want to see that little whiner Dana White have all his trash talking shoved back down his throat.

I will say that I wouldn’t be surprised to see your assessment play out in that exact fashion on Saturday night. Hey, I can dream right. if nothing else I just want to see a great fight, not some 22 second banger and not some hump war on the floor.

Brett Rogers grew up here in MN, so I’m cheering for the local guy. Rogers may be the underdog in this fight but I’m used to cheering for that kind of guy.
Sounds like a Brett Rogers win over Fedor would be akin to the Buster Douglas win over Tyson in 1990.

On a UFC note, I see that they moved Tito Ortiz to the main event of UFC 106. I remember previously reading that he was on the main card, but not the main event. And I don’t remember his opponent being Forrest Griffin either. But cool, I’d like to see him get back into form.

@The Constant Complainer, your memory serves you right my friend. Initially Ortiz was suppose to fight Mark Coleman, why I have no idea but that was the original scheduled fight.
The main event was also different, the main even would have seen Brock Lesnar vs Sean Carwin for the Heavyweight title. Lesnar has H1N1 and can’t seem to shake it from what I understand so the fight has been put on hold and they replaced it with Ortiz vs Griffin. I think that will be a great fight but again I stress how much I hate when main events are not title fights.

Fedor seems to be more well-rounded, but he looks like a small man next to Rogers. I’m hoping Fedor loses. I’m tired of seeing him ranked #1 when he’s never even fought in UFC.

There is nothing that will prove that Fedor is the best to such as you.
