Stumble Upon Me and I Do Follow and Stumble You

Crazy title for a blog post I know, I guess it’s pretty simple to call me out on this one for the fact that I am trying to grab a few search engine hits and increased search engine rankings along the way, I am a search engine hooker I guess. As a matter of fact you can call me all kinds of names for being the search engine ninja that I am, but when it comes to increasing traffic to your blog Stumble Upon can be a great tool to help that process along.

Being a blogger or someone that has a website that is looking to increase overall traffic you constantly must wear different hats and of course network with other bloggers. Networking might include fun tasks like visiting other webmasters blogs and leaving comments on their articles, it might include interacting and retweeting articles on Twitter for other active Twitter users to follow. The lists of things that a blogger can do or a noobie blogger can do to grow their backlinks and blog traffic along the way, however based on the title of this article I should point out one more very sweet traffic source for you to hit.

Extreme John's Stumble Upon

Extreme John's Stumble Upon

Stumble Upon is something that I literally Stumbled Upon over at Pot Politics, that Do Follow crazy blogger John Sullivan might have a crazy blog name to go with his wild posts, but make no mistakes about it John Sullivan can lay it down when it comes to bad ass blogging. O.k enough about that crazy guy, but in all seriousness check out his spot he has blogging tips you don’t see everywhere else on the web.

I have been testing Stumble out here and there for a little while now but never really installed the Stumble Toolbar that John told me about or really even looked for any friends to add on there, well again that was until John Sullivan made me do it. Now that John put the smack down on me I have been doing more Stumble stuff and the traffic rewards so far are pretty tasty, as a matter of fact Stumble has been in my Top 10 Referring sites for weeks now and it gains more ground every day.

Now I have a theory about Stumble that I would like to try out with a few of you so that perhaps we can all benefit from the sweet traffic addition from Stumble Upon, basically increasing the places that I network with other bloggers and blogging ceo‘s like myself. I enjoy retweeting others articles and tweets, I also enjoy hitting the Twittley button or any of the Sexy Bookmarks out there and sharing them, so why not see if I can get a few of you on board and let’s see what comes of it.

Stumble Me and I DoFollow and Stumble You Details:

A few simple steps and we should have a pretty good network of Stumblers kicking around some pretty hot bonus traffic that we probably didn’t have, this will take a group effort though. I doubt we would see excellent results around the board if we focused only on our own Stumble account and didn’t worry about sharing the link love, so let’s get moving!

  1. If you do not already have a Stumble Upon account, register here it’s free
  2. Get the Stumble Upon Toolbar, yeah that’s free too and it makes stumbling sites BUTTA!
  3. Add me as a Stumble Upon friend, my Stumble account
  4. Leave a comment on this post with a link to a post you want Stumbled and your Stumble account
  5. Stumble this article and at least one of the other articles in the comments section
  6. Have a great day and continue to Stumble articles you enjoy to grow your Stumble favorites

Now keep in mind I will of course be Stumbling every article that is added to the comments in the post, I will also be adding anyone that comments in this post with their Stumble account link as a friend. This will without a doubt grow a nice network between bloggers on Stumble and will more importantly do what we all love best, increase traffic flow to our blogs and our friends blogs.

Here is an example of how large and fast the Stumble me network can do with as few as 10 bloggers getting involved and stumbling each others articles and by joining each others networks.

  1. You would potentially have 10 instant friends on Stumble
  2. Your article may be Stumbled 10x, meanwhile you only did two Stumbles.. BUTTA!
  3. If you currently have zero followers with 100 hits per month you would potentially have 1,000 after getting into the Stumble Network.
  4. My blog is a Do Follow blog which means you get link love for your links in the comments here.

I’m not even sure why you are still reading this at this point, shouldn’t you already be signing up for your free Stumble account and grabbing that Stumble Toolbar that makes giving link love to your favorite blogs along the way? Oh yeah as if it was of any importance to you, Stumble is an excellent way to organize and save your bookmarks on the web so you can access your favorite articles from anywhere.

I hope to see a bunch of you get involved and as you can see I have already been Stumbling a lot of the articles from the bloggers that come through and visit Extreme John on a daily or weekly basis, makes it nice and easy to find articles I might have missed. Leave a comment, get down to it or subscribe to my rss feed and if your one of those crazy Twitter maniacs feel free to follow me on Twitter, I actuallt use it.

Let’s be honest. Stumble upon sends all sorts of traffic but it’s not important. They never comment, they never stay and visit other pages. My Stumble upon traffic is a drop rate of like 80% which is almost as bad as Entrecard.

I think the best forum of getting traffic that shows results is blog comments.

p.s. stumbled and socially engaged!

@Karen thank you for getting involved, even though I have Stumbled upon your articles before I went ahead and Stumbled your Wordpress Security update article.

@Asswass First off let me tell you how much I love the design of your blog! Now thank you for getting involved in my Stumble project, here is what I Stumbled Upon of yours http://www.asswass.com/hiburritos-banner-polls-blogs.html

@Brian without a doubt comments are where it’s at but trust me someone is getting useful traffic from Stumble, maybe not for everyone but it generates.

P.s Voted up on Blog Engage and Retweeted your latest article.

Thank you everyone keep it coming and don’t forget Stumble the person above you as others will be doing it for you too.

Added, stumbled and all that stuff. Like a poster above, I don’t think stumble traffic is worth much, but you never know what will happen. I’ve had over 4,000 visitors in a day from it – but nothing great came of it. If you click the link above, that’s a good page to stumble back.

@Sire ok I will be making my round to your site here in a bit and I will Stumble an article or two :)

@Tycoon Blogger glad you like and thank you for the Stumble, I will also be hitting your site to Stumble Upon a few articles, always easy on your blog :)

I’m not sold on the Entrecard widget or the entire thing yet, I don’t have much patience for certain “blog things” and that’s probably one of them. Widgets have to be killer or I don’t like’em. haha.

@Tyler thats good news, I really like the ability to share articles with one simple click with the friends that are in my network, I rarely use it but it’s a nice feature on that HOT article.

@Stefan thank you for the double Stumble, I have Stumbled your article. If you have any others feel free to post them and I will check them out. Thank you for getting involved.

@Doug you have been stumbled and thank you very much for getting involved in this Stumble Upon test. Who knows maybe everyone will get some free high bounce rate traffic out of it. haha
