Sunday Football Guest Recipe: 7 Layer Dip

by Extreme John on September 20, 2009 |

As much as I would love to have some new firey recipe like my Big Daddy Nachos from last week, it’s just not in the cards. Instead this week I have a guest recipe from Jennifer who happens to share a few tweets with me when I posted the link to my Big Daddy Nachos, Jennifer mentioned in a message to me that she made a mean 7 layer dip.

In the spirit of Sunday Football and excellent snacks and great football food I asked Jennifer if she would be nice enough to send her recipe over for me to include in this week’s Sunday Football Recipes, Jennifer was kind enough to send over the recipe for her 7 Layer Dip.

7 Layer Dip Recipe

1 can of re-fried beans on the bottom of the dish
1 8 oz sour cream covering the re-fried beans
chopped tomatoes
1 small can of sliced black olives
chopped scallions
jalapenos
shredded cheese (Cheddar or Mexican blend are good but whichever you prefer)

Once the re-fried beans and sour cream are in place however you want to throw the other ingredients on is optional.

Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!

Leave a comment for Jenn or maybe contribute what you might add to Jenn’s recipe, and please don’t forget to let everyone know that you tried Jenns 7 layer dip. If you have an excellent food that you and your family likes to prepare for football Sunday please consider sending over your recipe to my email address that way I can include in my football Sunday’s recipe post.

Not a big black olive or scallions guy… but the rest sounds good. I will have to save this for next week as we already have our menu planned for tomorrow :)

Thanks though Jennifer! I look forward to giving it a try!

We use a variation of this recipe for every family event. It is easy to make, easy to dip into, and everyone likes it. We have a few picky eaters that don’t do onions, so we use tooth picks to mark off 1/4 of the dish that has no onions in it.

I will get my Sister-In-Law’s recipe for her spicy jalepeno-artichoke dip for a follow up article for next week’s games. We don’t let her come over to the house unless she brings this hot plate dish (always the first empty plate during the big games.) which is perfect for tortilla chips, potato chips, or pita chips.

Congratulations on a Jets victory over the Patriots. Go Sanchez! I keep hoping that some week on Sports Center, Boomer will slip up and call him Mark “The Dirty” Sanchez. That would be a riot.

Layered dips rule. The beauty part of cooking this is that you don’t really cook! Of course, I like a jalapeno layer also!

I really want that recipe for spicy jalapeno-artichoke dip. That sounds really good.
