Sunday Smash: Social Media and Blogging Tips

Each week I try to post a few links to excellent blogging tips, business tips and information on social media sites that I came across during the week. I do this for a few reasons one of which is to share blogging information with newbie bloggers or business bloggers that are looking to create a greater online presence for their business.

When I first started this series I called it the Sunday Smash, which is basically my version of a mashup for the week and it gives me a chance to spread some Do Follow link luv on to other blogs that I read, in some cases those bloggers are nice enough to shoot me a few backlinks in return. I actively read over 500 blog posts over the course of the week on everything from business tips, SEO tips, blogging tips and of course some excellent blogs on mixed martial arts.

If you have your own blog on business tips, blogging tips, SEO tips, WordPress info, plugins, social media or just about anything else, take a second to leave a comment and I’ll check your blog out, this is a U Comment I Follow Blog.

Hey John,

It’s very nice to see extensions finally for Google Chrome. Now all they need to do is come up with a ChromeBug (FireBug clone..) and it would be awesome. I find the chrome built in developer tools to be lacking, even compared to IE.

Thanks for the post, and if I come across any good articles, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Hey John, you’ve probably noticed I haven’t been commenting on blogs as often these days, it’s only because I’m a little strapped for time. Heck I don’t even get to read as many as I used to, including this one, and I’m really missing that.

Keeping all that in mind I really appreciate it when bloggers such as yourself take the time to link to one of my posts. Thanks heaps mate.

Nice featured post! Thanks for the love. I took a little break from blogging and decided to rebrand my blog. I’m going to focus on business material. I’m really passionate about people leaving their job if unhappy and finding that passion. If I can help, that’s awesome. It is a dofollow blog so feel free to stop on by and leave your opinion.

I appreciate the links back to my site, and this is a really cool idea to get readers active throughout your community. Might try something like this, but put a spin on it!

Great post!

Thanks for the excellent contributions Joe and I appreciate you coming by and commenting, thank you. I would def. suggest putting together a weekly link mash, it’[s a great way to give back to other hard working bloggers and build networks. I have a post on here somewhere that lists all the reasons someone should do a weekly recap. :)

Thanks for including me in your roundup, I have read most of those articles this week myself. For some reason the pingback ended up in my Akismet spam so didn’t even notice I was in the roundup until I checked out the article.

Wow you must really hate me if your even throwing my pingbacks in the trash, actually it’s Akismet, they must have something against me. If they don’t straighten out I will have to start getting their attention :)

Anyway Justin, you know anytime I find something good to share I share it.

John,

I like the brand image you project by showing what I assume is you in a straight jacket. It definitely projects them image that you might be “out there” a little bit. It looks like you have been doing this for a while. You obviously know a thing or two about marketing.

Hi Kathy and thank you for stopping by. As for the straight jacket….. it fits :) Not sure it was so much the marketing concept behind it as it was the fact that I can def be a little off the wall sometimes, haha.

I have fun, that’s the most important part about being a small business owner and a blogging CEO to some degree, not every day is a great day but it’s certainly better than it can be.

Not really, I love it every once in a while. Most of the time I hate it, it’s been throwing every comment I make on other blogs into the spam filter, which is craziness because I’ve had this email address forever.

Great post, have you ever thought about writing about marketing via YouTube. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts John as I know you have a video on this blog of a day in your life (I think) so it would be good to find out if you value it as a marketing tool and if so, how best to tap into the YouTube community.
