I know, I know those of you that read my blog on a daily basis for the social media marketing tips and information that I post here on my blog probably just shrieked. How could I possibly talk about radio advertising? Well, long before I became a social media addict you could say I was somewhat of a Guerrilla marketing addict, everything from billboards, print, TV and radio and usually all at the same time and if you want to get into print I truly believe at one time I had Extreme Tan and Smoothies listed in every print marketing publication in the Tampa, Florida area.

I love the marketing rush!

Anyway, I’m going to get down to business because this is a crazy week so far, especially with UFC 126 on Saturday night and the Super Bowl on Sunday, if you’re interested you can check out my UFC 126 Fight Card and Predictions as well as my Super Bowl Predictions.

Radio Advertising on 93.3 FLZ

Earlier this week we kicked off a marketing campaign on one of the hottest radio stations in our area for our target demographic. As you will hear by the commercial audio sample from @933FLZ below, the ad is simple, short and sweet.

ETS_WINTERBLUES15

1 Month of Tanning or a Spray Tan Only $19

That’s it, simple as that. Any of our new or existing tanning bed or sunless tanning customers can pick whichever special they want to use (or both) and get tan for Spring Break and all of the fun Winter events.

Parting Shots

It’s 5:20am on Thursday morning, as you can tell I’m already in “stomp” mode. I don’t do the laying in bed and tossing in turning bit very well, especially when it starts at 4am, on to that Thursday morning grind.

Your Turn

What is your favorite form of advertising? Have you ever tried radio advertising in your local market? Leave a comment and add to the discussion, it won’t be any fun without you :)

Not as quickly as some might like to think that it is, but yes it is.

I dare to counter that, radio advertising is still well placed in the top advertising strategies and techniques. People still listen to their radio in their car. It’s true that few people listen to radio stations at home but an alternative to that is online radio stations.
Bottom line is radio advertising is still viable be it online radio or standard radio stations.

I had great luck on WDAE Sports Radio when the Buc’s were doing good. I went on a “stand by” contract where they fit me in when they could, and cleaned quite a bit of roofs in Tampa from those ads on radio. I remember 93.3 WFLZ when Bubba The Love Sponge did his no panties tuesdays :)
They called the radio station the “Power Pig” back then

I have considered using radio advertising. I’m just really unsure about the ROI

Our ROI from our radio ads was pretty decent, but our average ticket for the roof cleaning we do is from 300 to 500.00, even more for some bigger jobs. I was able to reach some property managers and Tampa realtors who we still do business with today with our radio advertising. But this was on WDAE Tampa Sports Radio, and our football team was extremely popular, back then. Personally, I don’t believe in paid advertising in a Bad Economy. But we are a long established Tampa Roof Cleaning Company, and a household word in the Bay Area for the services we perform.
