I very rarely do these middle of the afternoon blog posts unless we have something being released in regards to our tanning salon business or limousine business, my overwhelming guilt made me jump on here and give you an idea of what I have been up to. You know explain my reason for slackin’.
It’s getting near the end of October and Halloween is just around the corner which in turn means that the holiday season isn’t much further away either, this is one of my busiest times of year. Even though tanning and limousine “seasons” haven’t kicked into full effect yet.
One of my main positions in both of our business’s is marketing and advertising, I have a passion for it and I love the challenges of going head to head with other business’s in the tanning salon industry. In the limousine business it’s a little different because you work more as a team with your surrounding limousine companies, it’s a great way to put the customer in the limo that’s right for their event. There are a few cool tanning salon owners in the area that are cool, most I don’t really pay much attention to until they make me.
Anyway, I could probably turn this into some long ass blog post about each and every aspect of the tanning business as well as the limousine business and I’m sure everyone has better things to do than read this for the rest of the day.
This is the time of year when I setup our ad strategies for the next three months for Extreme Tan and Smoothies, we do some creative things to offer added value for our customers as well as generate business moving into the heart of tanning season. In addition to putting together all of the specials I also personally put together all of the supporting Extreme Tan and Smoothies Blog posts and data sheets for the salons.
While in the throws of putting together the specials for the holiday season and our Blackout Tanning Event, I also put together our daily specials from October through February of 2010 in addition to the blog posts that support and market those daily tanning specials. Oh yeah, we also received our first indoor tanning lotion shipment for the 2010 tanning season for each of our six locations. I was involved in every product price sign and the entire distribution process and pricing structures that needed to be in place for the lotions to hit the tanning salons.
I also wrote each blog post announcing the new tanning lotions on our indoor tanning blog, here are a few of the blog posts about new tanning lotions.
New 2010 Indoor Tanning Lotions
- Love My Couture – tan extending moisturizer
- Hot Mess Tanning Lotion
- White 2 Black Tanning Lotion
- Limited Couture Tanning Lotion
- Tanlicious Tanning Lotion
- D3 Cooling Bronzer
- Obsessed by Devoted Creations
- Love 4 U Tanning Lotion
- Leg Tanning Lotion
We also released to Spray Tanning Specials
We also began posting our Tanning Lotion Reviews
- Reborn Couture 40xxx Review by Kandra
There’s probably a few hundred other things that I could include in the list above and really drag the whining and excuse making out, instead I have a few things to get done so that I can get back on the streets and return some comments. I also intend on getting our New Years promo work done before the day ends, as you can see I have another busy one ahead of me and it’s already 3pm, I have been going at it since around 7am only 3hrs after I went to sleep last night. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!
On a side note and before I get out of here, can someone PPPPPLLLLLEEEAAASSEEEE send some cold weather in my direction, I really am sick of the heat and the nice “teaser” cold front we had for three days was really a joy.
Blogging Tip of the Day:
As your blog or network of blogs begins to grow it’s important to link within your own domains and articles like I did in the post above. Linking to posts on my Google Page Rank 2 tanning blog from my Google Page Rank 4 blog like Extreme John.com and my Google PR 5 indoor tanning forum it increases link popularity on your targeted keywords.
In closing…..
No more games, I’ma change what you call rage
Tear this motherfucking roof off like two dogs caged
I was playing in the beginning, the mood all changed

I have a serious weakness for that Eminem song, find it very motivating and helps me keep typing.
Good to know you’re staying busy and not sleeping at the office like usual.
On a side note, if you’re keeping up that kind of work ethic, I’m feeling the need to kick it up a notch or two. Taking it old school.
Mike from Daily Shot Of Coffee´s last blog ..Kenya Kiambu Peaberry Ndumberi Co-op from Jitterz Cafe – What I’m Drinking
@Mike from Daily Shot Of Coffee, yeah this song has always been a good motivator for me, especially when Im nice and angry.
John… you are one of the hardest workers I know. You have so much stuff going on and you still have time to write blog posts. You are a true inspiration to all of us.
Great blogging tip too!
Doug Dillard´s last blog ..Quick Tip – Where Not To Display Adsense Ads
@Doug Dillard, thank you Doug I appreciate the kind words, I like to keep movin’
OK, dude, you want cold weather. No problem. I’ll send all this sh*t from Cleveland down your way, bro.
That clip from “8 Mile” was awesome! Once in a while, I’ll toss that DVD in and watch the battle at the end. Great scene.
@The Constant Complainer, please! Yes send it this way, the smile on my face would be beyond ear to ear.
Above blog clears the picture about the marketing business and advertising industry. The list of products shown above looks up to the mark.
@Dr Hulda Clark, thank you.
Hey hey hey… Been missing your blog this week buddy! Glad to see you’re back, and I pretty much figured you were busy, this time of year is also damned busy in the music industry so I already had a feeling your absence couldn’t be helped
Hard Rocking South African@Music Judge´s last undefined ..If you register your site for free at
@Hard Rocking South African@Music Judge, I have been trying to get over but somehow found myself knocking out 72 blog posts in like 12 hrs.
I need to get an update done today.
It’s always interesting to hear about how much planning, concern and hard work go into making anything successful. It was neat to hear about the cooperation in the limo industry vs. what sounds like fairly intense competition in the tanning industry; setting up daily specials as far ahead as February 2010 is something I wouldn’t have expected – that does seem a while away.
Thanks for this post, good luck with all the work!
ashok´s last blog ..Emily Dickinson, “Expectation – is Contentment” (807)
@ashok, I like to have our marketing plans and stategies ready to go in advance, we also make sure that our marketing campaigns can be changed within a weeks notice in the event we have a competitor that tries something funny. We have put a lot of time and energy into the structure of Extreme Tan and Smoothies, Inc.
The tanning market is a little different than the limo market, at first every limo company in town hated us because we put a billboard up. Than people realized that we would be more than happy to work together, in the tanning industry around here it’s safe to say every salon owner with the exception of maybe one or two hates everything about Extreme, and you can add me to their list of things they hate too.
Thats just the nature of the beast I guest.
I love the eminem clip. I’ve watched the movie actually and you’ll get all hyped with his story.
ZXT´s last blog ..Free Microsoft Anti Virus
@ZXT, I have watched the movie probably 15 times, I love 8 Mile.
I never realized so much planning and what not went into running and promoting a tanning business. I am learning from you daily new tips and ideas on how to promote my new fledgling company.

Ms. Freeman´s last blog ..One Step Closer To The Goal
@Ms. Freeman, if it were up to me we would be planned a year out, Im pretty aggressive like that and I have done my homework on the tanning industry.
One of the #1 things that I will never forget about getting into the indoor tanning industry was how everyone that I spoke to said that tanning season went from February – June in this area. Not something that sat well with me at all.
Our first year I made the mistake of “waiting on season”, I don’t wait for seasons anymore. I make seasons, which is where all of the additional planning comes in to play. In addition to that, we ALWAYS have something going on at Extreme Tan and Smoothies, ALWAYS. With 6 locations and a home office if we don’t plan things out, there could potentially be 50 associates running around with no idea of whats suppose to be going on.
This might be a good time to have yourself cloned.;)
Really, it sounds like what “break” you got in the off-season is just about over. I hope you are in game shape. Just keep imagining the sound of cash registers ringing. That should make it just a little less tiring!
And thanks for the seo lesson. I sometimes get lazy with my internal linking. It’s nice to see it done right.
Keith@Norman Rockwell Art´s last blog ..Oct 17, Norman Rockwell’s Four Freedoms Series From The Saturday Evening Post
@Keith@Norman Rockwell Art, yeah man I feel good, don’t get me wrong I could use a little vacation but I can hang out until season is over
I feel confident going into the new year.
Seriously, I don’t know how people run businesses (more than one is impressive) AND still find the time to blog and link build! There is honestly not enough time in the day.
@Thomas@Toyota OEM Parts, I agree 100%. Someone else needs to write this crap for me haha.
@Extreme John,
Yeah, that would be a lot easier but you would probably have to pay them!
..and your posts would definitely not be as genuine
I’ve noticed that you’re an expert linking all your blogs and posts. I also try to this as often as I can, but sometimes I forget.
Asswass´s last blog ..Finally I won something on the Making Money Online Blog
@Asswass, Even I don’t usually remember interlinking my blog posts in the article..There should be some plugin which automatically links to your posts by keywords..Is there such kind of plugin?
Typhoon´s last blog ..3 Steps To Start Your Affiliate Marketing
@Typhoon, I agree with you typhoon, that plugin would be perfect. Too bad I don’t know how to code.
Asswass´s last blog ..WOP of the Moment: Does traffic drives you to dispair?
@Asswass, yes there is a plugin that you can use and that I recommend. I will be posting about it this week
I could do more internal linking. Not sure if what I’ve already done has paid off yet. How would I know? Time on site? Number of pages… I should track that more carefully, both gone down this week.
Dave Doolin´s last blog ..7 Ways To Evaluate Blog Post Quality — Tuning your BS detector
@Dave Doolin, I would look at areas like “page views” interlinking and doing so in the same window will increase pageviews within your blog tremendously. I have written about it before actually.
@Extreme John, Yeah, I need to do more of it. I tell other people they need to do it, then neglect to do it myself.
That’s one good reason for templates: you can enforce structured linking, at least for some articles.
Dave Doolin´s last blog ..WordPress Plugins, Google Wave — There’s a busy month ahead!
Good blogging tip there. I didn’t know you owned thetanforum too…very cool!
Tycoon Blogger@Make Money Blogging´s last blog ..Why do all the blog ad networks suck?
@Tycoon Blogger@Make Money Blogging, we use The Tan Forum as a private community for our staff on one side and on the other side we use it as a tanning information portal between various public users.
John you are the man, you look so “the man” real jelous of all your stuff u do. take it easy bro..

Don’t worry John, you are not suffering alone, I was in Phoenix yesterday and it was 98 degrees. I would gladly send you some of my mountain weather cause it’s cooling off a bit too quick up here.
Glad to see you keeping up with your marketing. Sign of a true businessman, one who realizes that when things are bad you gotta be more aggressive.
Good blogging tip too, thanks!

@donnie@Chattanooga Web Design, yeah it won’t be long Im sure. Sometime this week or most likely the start of next week.
What you’re doing with your businesses really is good lessons for the rest of us – and that was a great blogging tip too. I often forget to go back and link where appropriate (I have a lot of domains that I thought were a good idea at the time, so I can use them to link to main blogs).
christie´s last blog ..Dr. Don Stewart and DS Art – MiscBytes Niche of the Month!

The next three months……..It’s the season right? Do you ever switch up your final decisions about the next three months of marketing ideas? Or do you stick to your first final draft? Just curious:)
hi
Which running back would you start in a fantasy league? Knowshon Moreno or Joseph Addai?
