I feel like I jumped into one of the Back to the Future cars and blasted off into the past… I remember it well, the year was 2004 and we had just opened our second Extreme Tan and Smoothies location in Clearwater Florida. The company was buzzing we had just finished opening our second location while our first location was only a couple of months old and tanning more clients in a day than most salons would see in two or even three day period of time. The staff was on fire, customers were beyond happy as they found affordable tanning at it’s highest quality level with mutliple locations to choose from and a indoor tanning staff that educated and provided true customer service customers expected.
Not everyone was happy with Extreme Tan and Smoothies, I mean let’s face it in reality and certainly in business you are never going to make ALL of the people happy ALL of the time. We are a business and we had business growing pains just like everyone else, however it wasn’t our staff or even our customers that weren’t happy. It was our competition that despised the addition of Extreme Tan and Smoothies into the indoor tanning industry in the Tampa Bay Area. I am telling you, I remember it like it was yesterday… even employee’s of other tanning salons were tanning at Extreme. That statement says a lot, think about it.
Now here we and getting ready to celebrate the Grand Opening of our Seminole Extreme Tan and Smoothies this Saturday along with Wild 98.7 and it’s almost five years later. As we get ready to celebrate Birthdays, Grand Openings and look to grow it seems a few of the newer competitors that have popped up around town are following in the same foot steps as some of the older competitors that we dealt with 5 years ago. Looking for any little complaint or silly little thing to try and scare our customers, and even their customers into staying away from ETAS. I will continue to say the same thing today that I said way back when and dealing with many of those Tomb Stones (look it up)….. Take Care of Your Customers, because if you don’t we will.
Instead of these other salons being so concerned with what we are doing or how they can try to make us go away, spending all of that energy trying to get a grip on ETAS. I propose something else, evolve, grow, better your business through excellent customer service and you will never have to worry about us and what we are doing. If any of my competitors in the tanning industry think that making a phone call or complaining about silly crap is going to change Extreme, how we do business and most importantly how we deal with our customers…. Im sorry but your spinning your wheels, we have the best staff and a true passion for complete customer satisfaction and that is something that resides deep in our chest… you can never change it.
Worry about yourself, don’t worry about us. See you at the Grand Opening of our Seminole Extreme Tan and Smoothies location this Saturday.

Pretty simple ya know, I think everyone should work as hard as they can everyday to keep their customers and keep them happy. It is what they pay for ya know.
Right on, John. Competition benefits your customers. Because of your stores, they have a choice. It sounds as if your competitors have quite a bit of catching up to do. In your trade, customer service is paramount. Plus, you can get smoothies! I bet your competitors don’t offer any supplemental products to go with the experience. Either that or they just throw on some popcorn. I’d love to know what they thought they would accomplish by making things up about your business and your customer service practices… do they actually think their lies can make you close up shop and move on?
Im not exactly sure what the hell some of them are thinking, there are plenty of grade a excellent salons around and certainly some salons that we get along with and have much mutual respect for. Im not sure that our business model is the best, I just know it’s the best business model for us.
Do you have shops in other cities too? Have you ever though to offer a franchise? You will earn much more.
@Takis we have considered our options in regards to offering Franchise Tanning Salons, however in order to keep our goals and customer service expectations in line across ALL of our Tanning Salons I believe we will continue to hold off on offering Franchise opps for now.
Yeah, According to us, customers, Competition is good. but I think you are far ahead , don't worry about it.
I think it's better to open some more locations for Extreme Tan and Smoothies , now itself. It will be useful for you.
There is something to be said for franchises. Something definitely worth considering. It would allow for faster growth.
